Peoria at Cedar Rapids – Alvaro SeijasEdgar Gonzalez may be worth keeping an eye on. He is skipping Peoria despite absolutely no hype. Had a good k rate and k:bb ratio last year. Just gave up too many hits (but no home runs). I am sure his FIP was far better than his ERA though I couldnt find the exact number.
Brian, did you see him in spring training?
Minor correction. Gonzalez joined Peoria at the end of the season and pitched in the playoffs for them, but his time there was short. (Pet peeve: Minor league baseball does not maintain post-season stats. Why in the heck not?)
He went three innings in a sim game when I was in camp this spring, but it was away from the quad so I did not see it. I got good reports on him and he pitched a strong outing on March 23. I agree that he is a player to watch.
Brian, I found some postseason stats on Edgar Gonzalez on his MiLB player page. Looks like he appeared in 1 game for 1 inning for 1 Hit, 0 runs.
There are just way too many infielders at Memphis. Last year was the outfield, but there are too many infielders this year. Maybe they’ll use Robinson and Ravelo in the outfield more often now with Mieses being sent down to Springfield to make room for Robinson.
Billings gets sent to State College and EST to make room for Mieses.
Meanwhile, Seijas looked like his usual self with his inability to command a strike zone. Didn’t even make it out of the 3rd and still guys on base when he left. 67 pitches in 2.1 IP.
Bryan O’Keefe with a grand slamo to make it 6-0 for the Springfield team in the 3rd with all the runs coming with 2 outs.
That upstart Kernels squad avenged last night’s lopsided defeat to our Chiefs by coming right back this evening and returning the favor 10-4. Nootbaar the lone Peoria round-tripper.
Majorly disappointing night for the Springfield pitching staff. Perez was left in the game far too long and the bullpen couldn’t seal the deal. Springfield’s 7-1 lead is now a 7-8 deficit.

Derek, the last few sentences say it all. Thanks for passing it along.
“They all said pretty much the same thing — ‘It’s just another game (at the big league level) and have fun playing it,’” he said. “It’s baseball. If you don’t love it, you shouldn’t be in the game anymore.”
It’s obvious that Nolan Gorman loves it. And that he’ll be in this game for a long, long time.
“The goal is to get to St. Louis as quick as possible,” he said. “I’ve got to prove I’m ready for that level of play. I’ll do whatever I have to do every day to work my way there.”
Just a little pet peeve of mine but the abbreviation for Arkansas is AR, not AK. The minor league roundup article said the Springfield game was played in Springdale, AK. AK is Alaska.
