Saturday’s Game 4 between Memphis and Oklahoma City was postponed due to rain and will be played on Sunday as part of a doubleheader. Peoria won the opener of their semifinal series against Cedar Rapids. Our Player of the Day is Peoria second baseman Nick Dunn, who went 3-for-5 and drove in the winning runs in the ninth.

Memphis vs. Oklahoma City (postponed)
Game 4 of the Pacific Coast League playoff series was postponed due to rain. The Redbirds are up 2-1 in the series. Saturday’s game will be played on Sunday as part of a doubleheader.

The Chiefs fought hard and pulled out the road victory against Cedar Rapids in Game 1 of the Midwest League semifinal. Peoria fell behind 2-0 and the scored remained there until the eighth inning. Zach Kirtley led off with a single. Nick Dunn singled, moving Kirtley to third. Andres Luna singled to score Kirtley. Justin Toerner singled. Dunn was thrown out at home on a ground out. Luken Baker singled to plate Luna and Toerner.
Cedar Rapids added a run in the bottom of the eighth to tie the score. In the ninth, Julio Rodriguez and Kirtley hit back to back singles. Nick Plummer pinch ran for Rodriguez. Nolan Gorman grounded out and both runners advanced to second and third. Dunn singled, scoring Plummer and Kirtley.
Chiefs starter Angel Rondon gave up two runs on seven hits in 3 2/3 innings pitched. Robbie Gordon followed with two scoreless innings. Ben Yokley threw 1 1/3 scoreless innings. Fabian Blanco started the eighth, walked the first batter and gave up a double to the second. The first runner was thrown out at home on the play. With one out and a runner on third, Blanco was replaced by Kodi Whitley. Whitley gave up a single to score the run, which was charged to Blanco. Whitley yielded a double, then intentionally walked the next batter. The right hander induced a double play to end the inning and the game. Whitley was charged with a blown save, but also got the win.
