Miles facing the Nats’ young hurler. The Cards are facing a three game skid that could become four, and they need their stopper to step up.

They also need Wong and Gyorko back. I believe Wong is eligible to return tomorrow. The Greg Garcia, starting player era just needs to end.

Losing both Wong and Gyorko really takes a toll on one of the big keys to the team’s success, which is a steady infield on defense, and four guys who can hit. Plus Wong adds the speed dimension to the offense, and a lefty bat. Garcia hits lefty as well, but obviously is not in Wong’s class as a player.

Looks like Gant will pitch tonight and Mikolas tomorrow now, per Goold.

Wong and Gyorko being out really has hampered us…

starting Adams should never have been a part of him coming back…role hitting is it…same goes for Garcia IMO

Ozuna coming back was expected to cause a bit of a problem for the OF for time issues…but overall IMO we can run:

    Carp
    Yadi
    JMart
    Ozuna/ONeill
    DeJong
    Munoz (2b)
    Bader/ONeill
    Wisdom (3b)

out there everyday and be solid on defense (outside of poor range in JMart and a poor arm in Ozuna)

slot in Wong and Gyorko when they return and you are fine..slot Munoz to 3b with a share with WIsdom if Wong comes back ahead of Gyorko

Should have won those last two games…but you lose games like that…just crazy how very similar they played out…giving away free runs and then blowing the save

Still..we had a lineup already missing 2 hurt starters, then JMart and Yadi out too…Adams hiting 3rd was beyond ridiculous…he hasnt earned anything but pinch hitting…id rather see Wisdom at 1b and Garcia at 3b if i have to pick one

Now all the shuffling in the rotation is making me a bit less confident…too much changing…the guys were running on all cylinders when they were in discernible roles for the most part…changing things like we have the last week or so is leading to instability..i dont mind slotting Waino back in…Weaver and POnce can run out of the pen just fine and might actually help…we dont have to go super long with Waino with the types of arms we have in the pen

Norris and HIcks have been bothering me during our run…not sure where we go to outside of them as they have been raised up to be the only answers for the 8th and 9th for the most part…

i kind of want to bring up Gallegos and see if he is ready…the little i have seen of him makes me think he has the K potential to help

Too bad is Ozuna and not O’Neill. Ozuna is on a quest to leave the most men on base on consecutive games. He can’t throw either. Let O’Neill strikeout instead of Ozuna at least he can throw.

This has the feeling, given the last three (the two losses to the Reds really hurt) games, as a must win game.

Score is 4-0 Cards in the top of the 2nd, Ozuna with a solo shot, Carpenter with a 2 run single, and Bader scampered on home thanks to an error by the RF…

That’s what the 4 run lead is for.

Gant slow start but getting in the groove now. A 4 run lead helps. No reason why we can’t take tonight and tomorrow. WAS struggles w/o Scherzer on the mound. Strasberg not having a great season, and Roark tomorrow (8-14).

Let’s see how this plays out. 2 on and no out after 2 walks to start the 4th for Gant.

Gant can’t get through the 5th. Bases Loaded with 1 out. Webb on to face the lefty.

The Nats’ pitchers are no better. Three solo HRs in top of sixth has Cards up 7-4.
