I must admit that I like the day games, and the earlier the start, the better.

Anyway, big chance to complete a solid home stand if they can win this one. Will Peña get a start to give Yadi a rest? Should be fun to see Mikolas deal against this Rockies lineup that is known for working counts and taking pitches. Against Miles that can have a tendency to burn ya!

Hoping for the offense to push around Senzatela and head to the road happy.

Shildt likes the quick hook doesn’t he? I hope our young bullpen doesn’t get burned out.

No Fowler today. I instantly like the lineup better. Just a feeling but I think they break out the lumber today with multiple dingers to back up Miles going for win #12.

It was exciting to see the spark in the team provided by the ’17/’18 Memphis mob:

    Pitchers… 10Ks

    Weaver
    Poncedeleon
    Gomber
    Hudson
    Hicks
    Mayers

    Hitters

    DeJong
    JoMartinez (’16)
    Munoz
    Bader
    O’Neill (PH)

All of them had a hit (Bader-3). Combined 7Hs and 3RBIs

I hope that we can expect to see more of this.

So far, no tallies or really much to challenge the Rockies’ bad pitcher. Gotta pick it up.

I just read Ankiel is considering pitching again…he’s 39, but his arm doesnt have as many innings on it

If he can still get it up to 95 and still has that hook…even at 39 he could be worth letting him try it out again

If the Cardinals don’t give him the chance i would be a bit upset as there is nowhere else that should be the place he tries to do such a comeback

it would be his 3rd comeback and 2nd for pitching

all were successful as many forget that he made it back as a reliever before he switched to hitting

I say put him in AAA or AA and let him see what he can do…if nothing …nothign lost…if it is something…what a story and we could use a power lefty in the pen…or hey…why not as closer!

    Oneill getting us the lead…

then he makes an amazing catch to save a run…only to lose the lead shortly after on an RBI

    1-1

Classic garbage inning for the Cards. Muñoz swings at junk when the Rockies scrub pitcher literally can’t find the plate the entire inning. Then Garcia grounds into a double play and the leadoff walk and complete lack of control are totally forgotten.

dumb mistake for Mikolas throwing that error to 1st to give up the run that may end up being the difference…well played game in general though

O’Neill, Dejong and Gyorko…one of them needs to put one over the wall this inning.

While a split isn’t a terrible result, it’s a loss because this team can no longer afford splits against key rivals if they want any chance to make the playoffs. They’ve already beaten the Rockies two best pitchers and coughed up a hairball against the two worst.

Three straight looking, right down the gut for O’Neill. Not the start to the inning you’re looking for.

That was a killer on the bad slide by Dejong. Just another example of giving away outs. That’s why this team is solidly average.

I got stuck behind a tractor on the road on my way home. Got into service in time to see Jose’s interview but didn’t see any of the B9th. That’s a much needed win against a hot team to give them a little more hope.

didnt give up, played solid despite the Mik error…some really nice defense in the game… some aggressive baserunning (not all went well)

clutch hits from guys who were struggling in the 9th… Garcia slapping a hit after Arenado was amazing for the 1st out….then BAder who was struggling all day getting the big single to move him to 3rd and then steals 2nd out of nowhere to set up the walk off single (though i dont know if he ran to 2nd or not to make it a double) to win it by JMart

Great comeback win.Mikolas another good game.Brebbia and Shreve both did their jobs.J Martinez clutch hit for win.Bader tough day but clutch hit and SB.Garcia clutch PH single.ONeill got schooled by Ottavino in the 8th.Otherwise a solid 1-2 SF RBI BB and 1 K.Since his recall he is 4 for 6 2 RBI 2 K,1 BB.....cant complain about that.Great win today. Now go kick some Pirates butt tomorrow and keep Fowler the hell out of the way.

Having a revamped bullpen really gives us a chance for comebacks like this. Two weeks ago we would have given up three in the 8th and two in the 9th for a 7-1 loss.

    Nice win!!!

Pitching and defense can still win games. It is a good formula for this team.

That is the kind of win, especially capping off a 3 of 4 against a good team that has played well the last month, that gets you to thinking “could they go on a tear?”

We’ll see. Bader with a gutsy steal in the ninth. The center field job is his to lose. Unfortunately he needs to make contact more often. Guys with speed just need to make contact, and they can play. Maury Wills was a guy no one thought would be a major leaguer. But he learned to switch-hit, and pretty much just beat the ball into the ground from the left side and carved out a 14-year career. Course he was a pretty good defensive player at a premium position, but so is Bader.
