    1:15 p.m. RHP Miles Mikolas (10-3, 2.65) vs. RHP Anthony DeSclafani (4-1, 4.43) FOX Sports Midwest/KMOX

Since Mikolas is pitching Sunday, he will not pitch in the All-Star Game, however, he will still attend.

This team has plenty of 1-2 type hitters and 5-6 guys but no 3 or 4. That just be a priority coming up.

I’m not feeling too confident that this team will avoid the sweep. I’ll say it’s a 7-3 loss.

Interesting, so the new voice says bat Molina 2nd. He’s might be the slowest 2-hitter in MLB history, but he also has qualities you need in a 2-hitter that we apparently don’t have anywhere else on our roster.

Probably tired of watching Carpenter lead off with a base hit and then be stranded as the next two guys strike out and Ozuna hits a grounder right to the SS.

Molina adapts his plate approach to the situation probably better than anyone on the roster. That’s nice to have have anywhere, but especially the 2 spot. Speaking of Ozuna, when does he get moved down to try a “fresh” look.

I do not want to over analyze any one lineup and even if it is wildly successful today (or if Cincy throws a no-hitter), one game means little to nothing over the longer haul.

Having said that, it suggests to me that had Matheny asked his bench coach for his lineup suggestions against a RHP, this is along the lines of what he may have received. It is clearly different from prior lineups we’ve seen.

I’ve thought that DeJong should have been our three hitter all along so I’m glad to see that. It also appears that Schildt is putting his best defensive team on the field (except Fowler) so that is good. Maybe the determination has been made that the only way this particular team has a chance to win is to focus on pitching and defense then we can take another shot at addressing the offense at the trade deadline or in the off season.

In his first at-bat, Fowler hits a solo home run to increase the lead to 2-0 in the second inning.

Bader is injured on an awkward turn at first base after shooting a a ball into the gap. He leaves the game for pinch runner Tommy Pham.

Bader argued to stay in but I agree the right decision was to take him out.

Mikolas’ control falling apart in the 4th. He’s playing with fire and the runs could start to flow for Cincinnati very soon.

Mikolas in a little trouble. He is having control issues. Unusual for him.

Duvall missed a grand slam by a foot or two there. Just a long strike.

Two run single, bunt base hit. Bases loaded again. Reds have a chance to take the lead.

Mikolas boots one. 3-2. Maybe the Reds will put the team out of its misery again today.

It should be an error on Mikolas 3-2 Reds

Gyorko with a bad play on a pop up gives Gennett a second chance at it.

The bad defense keeps the inning going.
