Cards have a chance to get out of Milwaukee with a split. After the first two games, that would have to be considered a positive.

Weaver is due for a better start, and Chacin for a worse start. To get away from Milwaukee with a tie series would be huge. Not necessarily expecting it, but it would be nice.

With Hicks and Norris both having pitched 2 straight days, does that make Holland the closer for this game?

Let’s hope we find out, Carioca. I didn’t think we would see Holland in a position again to take back what he was paid $$$$$$$$$$$$$$ to do, but this is his chance. If Holland does take the bull by the horns, then it will be Hicks center stage in 2019 for sure.

4 1/2 back or 6 1/2? Weaver has to have that pitch count south of 75 after 5 frames today…..for once.

I’m not sure that they’d put Holland back there just yet. But I don’t know who else they might try. I’d really enjoy a comfortable win for a change. There really hasn’t been a low stress game in about a month…at least a winning low stress game.

Big win yesterday in typical Cardinal fashion… Good pitching with our runs as the result of home runs. That being said I feel we showed a lot of heart esp. after being whooped in game 1 followed by heartbreaking loss in game 2, then start game 3 0-2…we didn’t. give up and battled back. Even though it was yadi supplying the offense.. I know the others were trying. It’s. funny after a tough loss, I’ll sometimes say we didn’t try, we don’t care but who am I to determine who tried and who didn’t? What do I know. I am just watching as a loyal fan. I don’t know what it’s. like to not get the big hit or make the big pitch or get critiqued by millions when I don’t. I know Fowler and Wing are struggling but they are trying and they will hit their stride where they go through 3-5 week stretch where they consistently bat over 400 but until then they have my support because as long as you wear the Cardinal jersey… No matter success. Or struggle I am a true blooded fan through thick and thin.

A win today will almost feel like a series win. Weaver usually has that one shaky inning between the 3rd-5th… If he can avoid that, I expect a good outing, 6 or 7 innings will be big and get out with a split before heading to Cleveland (or do they come to St. louis?) anyhow, in a few more hours I will sit in front of the TV wearing my Cardinal shirt with my Cardinal hat as I drink a cold one covered in a Cardinals. Coozie.and cheer my Cardinals on as I become player, manager, and GM all in one but what I am most of all is a Cardinals fan. Good luck today,Weaver, you got this. Go Cardinals.

Weaver has a good arsenal of pitches, but will need to be more economical with them in order to give the Cards a chance at a win today. In other words, he has to pound the strike zone, hit the corners, and be deceptive.

We most likely will need to score more than 3 to get away with a series split. Chacin has done real well for Milwaukee. I always liked him when he came up with the Rockies – thought he was one of those good pitchers that had to endure pitching in a tough park half the time. He seems to be finding his stride in Wisconsin.

I agree 3-5 runs will be needed for a win. I feel small ball will be key especiall In the early going. If we can manufacture a run or 2 even via productive outs I feel will be big as the game progresses into the later innings.

I’m back from vacation. Got to see three innings of Nats-Orioles then three hours of rain. Looks like the Cards didn’t do much this past week while I was gone.

Weaver has been terrible his last few starts. He really needs to step it up if we have any chance of contending.

Good start. Weaver needs a shutdown inning with little pitches.

The lead lasted about 10 minutes as the Brewers have already plated two and are still batting in the first.

Another Ole attempt at a ground ball to first base by Martinez.

Matheny has to be more aggressive esp when Badger is on base.

Weaver with another inefficient outing. 64 pitches through 3. Thankfully, Flaherty and Mikolas allowed the pen to rest a little the last two days.

Some damage in the 4th for the Birds. Fowler doubles and Bader walks. Both advance on the sac fly, then score on Marp’s 2 out single. Garcia works a walk and then Jmart unloads on a 2 strike fastball, making it 6-2 Cards. Ozuna doubles and then Yadi smoked a liner to 3rd that is caught up end the inning.

I hope MM doesn’t allow Weaver any (more) slack with a, seemingly, comfortable lead. Don’t let Luke make this game exciting, please…

Nice shutdown Inning after given the lead.
Good hustle by Badger and Fowler to get themselves in scoring position. Also good timely 2 out hitting by Carp and Mart.
Go Cardinals.. Keep the runs coming.

Bader with the single scores Fowler. He then goes first to third on the Wong single and scores on the Weaver bunt.

So this is what an efficient offense looks like, huh? 8-2 Cards and Chacin is out.

This is what I like to see… Base to base… with hustle. If the pitcher makes a mistake, then capitalize… Otherwise don’t. over due it and take what they give you.

6 run lead. Weaver after a shaky 1st seems to have settled in. Stay strong Luke.
