12:10 p.m. RHP Carlos Martínez (3-2, 1.83) vs. RHP Anthony DeSclafani (0-1, 7.20) FOX Sports Midwest/KMOX
Marcell Ozuna is hitting .315/.388/.478 in the last calendar month, with more walks than strikeouts. Pretty solid, and basically what we were hoping for on the trade. The power looks to be coming around as well. As we’ve seen the last couple days, the offense looks leaps and bounds better with Carpenter and Pham setting the table and Martinez and Ozuna driving em in. Getting Dejong back to drive in runs as well would be big.
As for today, hoping for a better start from Cmart. Go Cards!!
Mikolas and Wacha are a combined 15-2… the rest of the staff 20-25. Just an observation.
As of now, the Mikolas signing as played out very well. Maybe the Pacific rim scouting can find some more players for the Cards.
We’re getting a lot more out of Wacha than most thought possible. Its a good thing that no one from the FO read the many “trade Wacha” opinions and advice featured here and on other blogs.
Sometimes things work out well.

We really need to win the next four games before we start that gauntlet. Ozuna’s bat does seem to be coming to life but what is going on with his throwing arm? Not much is ever said about it but it looks like he can barely get the ball back to the infield sometimes. I’m sure he didn’t win a gold glove last year with that kind of arm. It must be a more serious injury than they are letting on.
I will miss the game today as I will be the attending the U of Arkansas super regional game this afternoon. If we win we are on to Omaha. Go Cards and Go Hogs!

The Doppler radar shows a HUGE pile of green stuff, with some orange and red, headed towards the Cincinnatuh area about noon. Its heading southeast and is making its way past the Indianapolis area at the moment. Almost a 100% chance of some kind of delay or a rainout. Lets hope it dissipates and this game can be played.

Carlos has struggled with his control early in the game. He’s been rusty since his return. Hopefully he can get it straightened out.
Martinez with a better 2nd inning. First time through the batting order, 5 of 9 Cards have struck out.
Cards get 2 in the 3rd. Ozuna came close to a grand slam, but Winker appeared to catch it at the top of the wall and it was ruled an out. Cards challenged the call and replay ruled Winker caught the ball after it struck the wall, thus giving Ozuna a single and an RBI. Yadi followed up with a sac fly to add the second run.
This home plate umpire is the worst I’ve seen all year. And we’ve seen some bad ones. Giving a bad pitcher a huge zone on both sides and caking strikes balls for Carlos. Unreal
Just not a very good job there by Martinez, had him 0 and 2 and either hits him on 3-2 or walks him.
Martinez at over 85 pitches now and hasn’t gone 4 yet. Reds tied it up. Just added another walk to load the bases. Martinez simply not good today but just two runs yielded. Pen better be good today.
Well he just struck out Gennett but they called it a ball. This umpire is pathetic
Same thing happened on the Hamilton at bat. This guy shouldn’t be calling a major league game
Umpire hasn’t helped him, but when you’re as wild has he has been today you will not get a lot of help. Martinez did himself no favors today.
You just can’t leave Martinez in that long, whether the ump was bad or not. 7 walks is a bad look on anyone. He probably has come back too soon from the lat injury when he could have used a couple more rehab starts.
I think Martinez is very overated. Cards should trade him to the orioles for machado. Him and that Reyes kid who hasn’t pitch in two years for us. Get rid of them and get better talent
He’s never been that good to begin with. He’s always wild and has no discipline on the mound. Cards need to get rid of him this season.

He needed another rehab start. If he is not that good no way the Orioles trade Machado for him. He is that good when he is right. Clearly he is not right yet. Oh and coming into today his ERA was under 2 yeah he is not very good.
