Peoria at Beloit (AM): Alvaro SeijasIs Tewes close? He would be a big lift to the rotation with Helsley moving up. Also O’Reilly was promoted to Memphis and while I mention him, what is he doing in the MEM bullpen? With the addition of Helsley, it seems O’Reilly’s chances of starting there are lessened. Is he now considered a bullpen guy? Or he getting some time off from starting? Seems strange.
So the S-Card rotation looks like Woodford-Greene-Jones-Ellis…. Tewes or Evans. Reyes should get another start soon. Shew, Kruczynski, or Warner (on fire) could easily be moved up.
Shew received the promotion to Springfield. Palm Beach Cardinals tweeted that out yesterday.
Last update on Tewes was from EST and he progressed to throwing bullpens. Springfield remains two roster spots down, so Tewes could still be activated and that would move Ellis/Evans back to ‘pen where the team has struggled.
Alvaro Seijas with a really good game. Nice bounceback for the kid (he is only 19!!!) after getting scorched in his last outing. 6.1 IP, 3 H, 2 BB, 5 K, 0 R(ER). Also, Thomas St. Claire with 2.2 IP to get the 1-0 win for Peoria! The Chiefs got the only run of the game in the 9th.
Edward Mujica just gave up 6 runs in the top of the 10th to the Oklahoma City Dodgers, including a 1-out 2 run blast from former Cardinal Breyvic Valera. There was an error by Ravello which allowed the 1st runner to score but all of the rest is on him. He leaves the game with only 1 out.
Mike O’Reilly replaces Mujica with a runner on 1st (Mujica’s guy) and proceeds to throw 1 pitch for another Dodger Homerun. 10-2 Dodgers in the 10th.

As mentioned above, Valera a 7yr. Card farmer homered and is batting .330 for OKC. Coincidently, Donovan Solano, another 7yr. ex-Card prospect, mercifully hit into an snowman-ending 10th inning.
Can someone explain to me why Mike O’Reilly is in the pen? And Gilmartin is starting instead of him? I am not sure how high a ceiling he has as a prospect, but he was excelling as a starter. Maybe he needs to go down to Springfield and start in place of Ellis, which might do both of them good.
O’Reilly was excelling as a starter at Palm Beach and then Springfield this season. I’m not sure why he was called up to Memphis so quickly and then to find himself as the Redbird’s long man in the pen. There’s got to be something I’m not hearing about. I thought that it was decided to make him a reliever or his arm was tired. He made 21 starts split between PEO and PB last season.
There has to be a reason for him to be at MEM.
