Carson Kelly must be pressing to get that first hit of the season. Hopefully after he gets it he can just relax and play.
Kelly’s bat has a lot of concern. He wasn’t hitting in AAA either. He is impressive behind the plate and the way he handles pitchers though, especially for the short amount of time he’s actually been catching.
I’m working evenings this week and have enjoyed the late starts. I’ve been home in time to still catch the last 3 innings. Tonight will be all radio though.

Why isn’t Gyorko hitting 3rd? Flip flop Jedd with Martinez. Boy that bottom half of our lineup sure isn’t going to create any sweat on the opposing pitcher’s brow…..especially #’s 6 & 7. But our top half should get it done. I’m calling this one 5-3 Birds with Tommy P. jerking one into the seats.
Jankowski led off with a single and advanced to third on two ground outs, but a strikeout ended the inning.

In the top of the 6th, DeJong gets HBP’d, then JMart follows with a double, scoring DeJong. And we are tied 1-1
Cards miss a great chance to take the lead in the 11th. Wong turning down the walk on a pitch nearly a foot inside really hurt. Could’ve loaded the bases for Pham. Brebbia in to try to get it to the 12th. He has K’d the first two batters.
Shock DeJong strikeouts out twice tonight. 13 of them so far. For the love of god fire Mabry and get a hitting coach on the staff.
Brebbia looking good. He struck out the first four he faced, then let the defense take care of the next two. Garcia made a nice play ranging to his left for one of those outs to snag a grounder and complete the throw to first. Headed to the 13th, score is 1-1.
They’re suppose to have fireworks tonight after the game.
I stayed until the last out of the 9th. Just got to get up early for me and do work for Mothers Day.
