6:45 p.m.
RHP Michael McGreevy (5-9, 3.54) vs. RHP Kyle Bradish (7-12, 3.70)
Cards.TV // KMOX // WIJRAugust 25, 2026 at 11:23 pm #317225On a good note from Tuesday night.
The Cubs were one out away from a 4-3 win at Arizona when Waldschmidt jacks a 2-run dong for the win. 5-4 Arizona your happy final.
August 25, 2026 at 11:34 pm #317227You know you’re having a bad season when the best thing about it is rooting for teams you don’t like to lose.
August 26, 2026 at 7:13 am #317242Gorman has another option year, I think, but next year he would be taking turns away from 3B candidates who could be part of the future. I wonder what will happen.

Maybe, but he’s also in arbitration years. Making around $2.5 million, no point of having him in the minors making that money. He will be non-tendered and get a minor league contract somewhere else of someone hoping they can get him to figure something out.
August 26, 2026 at 8:51 am #317245I doubt Gorman will be back one way or the other. Hopefully Bloom can at least get a bag of practice balls for him.
For starting pitchers I think the rest of the year may be 2023ish – just dumpster dive / kick through the scrap heap and see who can come get through some innings.
McGreavy, Liberatore, Matthews, ?, ? is your starting rotation right now.
Ugh
August 26, 2026 at 9:54 am #317249You know you’re having a bad season when the best thing about it is rooting for teams you don’t like to lose.
That has been pretty much my modus operandi the last five years. Rooting for the Cubs to lose gives me great joy.
August 26, 2026 at 11:09 am #317253Could be worse. Out here Rockies fans are annually rooting for the Rox to just not lose 100 games or more. 😄
August 26, 2026 at 11:20 am #317256Scotty? I’ve always thought no one in this world could detest the cubbies more than myself…….until you came along. God love you for that!
August 26, 2026 at 12:11 pm #317261Taking a gander at the meteorological conditions for this one. Still too early to give a big thumbs up but all seems clear throughout the midwest at this point. And that includes the greater metropolitan area of downtown St. Louis as well.
However, as I said yesterday, we are over six hours away from first pitch so stay tuned.
And din-din today will be the weekly trip to the Amish restaurant, the Gasthof. Fried chicken, fish, mashed potatoes/gravy, green beans, noodles, dressing, cherry cobbler, sweet iced tea, and some vanilla soft serve ice cream for dessert. Then a 7×50 Palma Real Presidente cigar on the bench out on the front porch area.
Then home to, hopefully, get my new tire on my John Deere riding mower. It was almost impossible to get it off last night.

Thanks Pugs! Ironically I have several friends who like the Cubs. It is safe to say that our friendship has been tested many times. I don’t have to bite my tounge so much on this board..lol
August 26, 2026 at 3:06 pm #317271JJ Wetherholt (L) SS
Iván Herrera (R) DH
Alec Burleson (L) 1B
Jordan Walker (R) RF
Nathan Church (L) CF
José Fermín (R) 2B
Nolan Gorman (L) 3B
Bryan Torres (L) LF
Jimmy Crooks (L) CAugust 26, 2026 at 4:42 pm #317282Those last five in that lineup are weak.
Very weak.
As I keep saying we need a big bat in the lineup.
And a top of the line starting pitcher.
August 26, 2026 at 5:32 pm #317283I think Herrera is probably a better hitter than he has shown this year. Whether Burleson and/or Walker have peaked or they continue to be productive remains to be seen. I think Burly will stay at this level for a few more years. Walker should get better, but I am not totally sold on him yet. He still gets beat at times on balls on the outer half, but has certainly made great strides. JJ should get better.
Gorman is a bust – way too many swings and misses. Crooks has not looked good. Church and Fermin are okay – could be valuable to a roster with a little more production.
So we have three guys that are pretty good. Just need them to keep it going and two more to take the next step and we can make it tough on opposing hurlers.
August 26, 2026 at 5:55 pm #317287FYI here,
The Reds trailed the Giants at Candlestick Park 9-3 heading to the 9th.They scored seven (7) runs in the top of the 9th and take a 10-9 lead to the last of the 9th.
Alot of weird games in MLB recently.
Oh, and on a good note…….the Cubs lost again. 2-0 Arizona your final at the BOB.
August 26, 2026 at 6:18 pm #317288And the Reds did hang on to win.
10-9 Cincinnati your final at Candlestick Park today.
And weather wise all appears clear for the game at Sportsman’s Park tonight.
August 26, 2026 at 6:28 pm #317289I have a cousin that lived in Chicago for a few years and is a Cub fan. They were at those last two games in Phoenix, so they saw their club go 0 and 2.
On the din-din front, leftover Italiano food here as we have two different pasta dishes that need to be taken advantage of. No complaints. 😁
August 26, 2026 at 7:01 pm #3172915-0 top of the first Orioles
This one is over.
I think this team is going to go over the cliff for the rest of the season.
The next time I have to watch Gorman play for StL it’ll be too soon.
August 26, 2026 at 7:16 pm #317295It looks like McGreevy’s expected stats were correct he was pitching way over what he was really capable of in the 1st half. A 3.01 ERA in the first half and a 5.05 ERA (not even including tonight) in the second half.
I still think he is a #3/4 mix type guy going forward though.

ParticipantI dont think being down 5 runs early means game over. Plenty of baseball. I was reading an article about the serues saying this was a series the cardinals should sweep and needed to alluding to somes incessant thought of post season. Its kind of funny. The orioles arent having a great season obviously but it isnt like the cardinals are head n shoulders better than them at this point or really any point other than maybe april or may. Best for these sites just to chill and focus on the path ahead.
August 26, 2026 at 7:23 pm #317299Looks like the ’26 edition couldn’t quite prevent the entire gearbox from scattering before the onset of Sept. When she goes it’s never pretty.
August 26, 2026 at 7:23 pm #317300Alonzo goes yard in the 2nd with a 2 run homer
7-zip Orioles.
When can we expect Pages to take the mound to start lobbing balls at the plate?
I mean why not? We dont have an actual pitching staff at this point…
August 26, 2026 at 7:28 pm #317302According to Dr. Google these Cardinals have not overcome a single 5 run deficit in 2026.
I though they had done it 1 time but it appears not.
August 26, 2026 at 7:29 pm #317303Gorman with a bomb. I hope he does enough so that Bloom can get something for him in a trade instead of just cutting him loose.
August 26, 2026 at 7:30 pm #317304Crooks is another one that’s cooked. He clearly cannot hit major league pitching. Next man up…
