July 27, 2026 at 1:24 pm #314249I assume Liberatore is feeling the pressure heading into this one. Let’s hope he can come through and turn in a solid performance.
And meteorological conditions look favorable for this one tonight according to the Doppler Radar. All clear through the midwest. Chicago, however, appears to be getting a big dose of rain and storms as I type this.
Din-din today is a couple of baked potatoes, some Allen Cut Italian Green Beans, an ice cold slushy Mt. Dew, and a big bowl of Turkey Hill Vanilla Bean ice cream.
And I am hungry too. I just took all my trash down to the dump/landfill in Montgomery. It’s about 90 degrees here today and humid and it wore me out loading them up and then throwing them out at the dump. It’s A/C time the rest of the day.

cardsfan64ParticipantStay hydrated, Rat! That storm coming down from Chicago is hitting Indianapolis right now! The rain is knocking down the heat, but humidity is still up there. My MLB.TV was blacked out for the Cincy series, so I wonder if I will be blacked out for Chicago as well? We will see!
July 27, 2026 at 5:24 pm #314269Let’s get Walker back to the 4 slot! What’s this business of hitting him second the last week or so? C’mon Ollie, stick with what was working.
Hot here too, but super dry. No rain to speak of for quite awhile. We did get a break this morning for softball with cloud cover though.
July 27, 2026 at 5:33 pm #314270According to the Doppler Radar there is a small cell about to hit St. Louis in the next hour or so. Not sure how this will impact the game or if it even will.
Stay tuned……
July 27, 2026 at 5:55 pm #314271I’m catching the game tonight from Busch Stadium although my wife and I chose the cheap seats tonight so you folks will have a far better view of the action. My goal is simply to try to inspire some more offense than the one inning we’ve had in the past couple weeks. Wish me luck! 96 degrees, but at least the air is blowing a little way up here!
July 27, 2026 at 5:58 pm #314272Jnevel, make sure you stay plenty hydrated. That type of heat and heat index is no joke
July 27, 2026 at 6:00 pm #314273Albert – Yeah, the news said the heat index was around 115 degrees. I’m sweating sitting down even with the breeze.
FYI – there are a whole lot of Cubs fans here tonight.

July 27, 2026 at 6:03 pm #314275It’s entirely possible that Walker’s recent placement into the 2 slot of the order is a direct result of the whiz-kid suddenly suffering the onset of serious delusional symptoms in the form of a flashback to the ’22 NLWC series when he heard strange voices inside of his coconut commanding him to inexplicably rearrange the lineup by moving Albert Pujols to the 2 slot and replacing him at #5 with Brendan Donovan. It’s common knowledge that these sorts of episodes are known to randomly occur at the most inopportune times.
July 27, 2026 at 6:08 pm #314276Rain delay upcoming according to the usher in the netherworld up here. Not sure how long it will be.
July 27, 2026 at 6:20 pm #314277Yeah, that could be it 1TD. He also took 2022 MVP Paul Goldschmidt, who hit third all season, and moved him to the 2 slot in ‘23.
The way our club struggles for runs and Walker being more of a production hitter than get-on-base guy, we need him getting ABs behind on-base guys.
July 27, 2026 at 6:22 pm #314278I doubt the rain delay will last very long.
However, Cleveland is in a rain delay at Cincinnati. From the looks of the Doppler Radar it looks like Riverfront Stadium could be in for quite a bit of wet stuff tonight. They will be fortunate to get that game in.
July 27, 2026 at 6:35 pm #314280It looks to me like the rain will last until around 8 pm. Long night of hanging around for me. They haven’t actually covered the field yet – just the mound.
July 27, 2026 at 6:37 pm #314281I read about jnevel being out there and started sweating just sitting in my living room. I think I will tilt back a cold frosty one before my condition becomes concerning.
July 27, 2026 at 6:43 pm #314282Yeah, Bikemike, I’d have to say that experience is the ultimate teacher and, I’ve been led to clearly understand from past experiences that, whenever the gears are meshing nicely, it’s almost always a foolish idea to begin pressing any buttons or yanking on any levers that may possibly lead to the aforementioned gearbox scattering prior to crossing the finish line…
July 27, 2026 at 6:58 pm #314283The stated reason for Walker batting second is to give the team’s best hitter more at-bats.
July 27, 2026 at 7:00 pm #314284The heavy rain has begun. Looking now like it may be 8:30 or later before we get underway unless they start in the light rain.
July 27, 2026 at 7:04 pm #314285Like many others have mentioned, I’m not a big fan of sweltering in the insufferable heat and humidity of the Belgian Congo either, but hey, it’s supposed to be that way during high summer in Missouri and it sure beats the sensation of my freezing backside whilst I somberly shovel the driveway in the frigid cold and grey during the dead of winter…What may well be the worst part of these blistering July heat waves is the dreadful sound made by the vast amounts of money spilling from my modest bank account and landing into the pockets of Mr. Powergrid. I have the thermo set at 79 and the AC hasn’t taken as much as a short break since Friday. Pretty soon it’ll be “Somebody loan me a dime”…
July 27, 2026 at 7:42 pm #314288First pitch scheduled for 8:30.
July 27, 2026 at 8:40 pm #314298Should we expect to see jnevel in the Tarps Off crew tonight?
July 27, 2026 at 8:42 pm #314299I don’t really want to embarrass the Tarps Off crew Albert!
July 27, 2026 at 8:56 pm #314301Liberatore giving up a lot of hits early. Fortunately, he picked off PCA in the first to save one run and possibly more.
I told my wife before Wetherholt’s AB that he’d been trying to pull everything lately and so then he comes out and hits an opposite field single. That was refreshing to see.
July 27, 2026 at 9:07 pm #314302Fermin just hit it in Big Mac land. I should just go to bed now with a smile on my face.
July 27, 2026 at 9:08 pm #314303The Ferminator, in CF tonight with the lefty on the mound and Church struggling to hit anything, hits a no doubter home run to left to put us back down only one.
And Bregman hits Liberatore’s first pitch into the stands in RF. The wind may have kept that one fair. It’s gusting pretty good towards LF.
