Cardinals Minor League Notebook – June 30, 2026

The St. Louis Cardinals minor league system was 2-0 on Monday. The Cardinal Nation’s Player of the Day, FCL Cardinals outfielder Kenly Hunter, was 3-for-4, including a double and three RBI. Other standouts include J.P. Cabrera, Yordy Herrera, Cooper Hjerpe, Sebastian Rojas and Luis Estrella.

Memphis Redbirds (off day)

The Triple-A Memphis Redbirds were off Monday as they headed home to AutoZone Park for a six-game set with the Charlotte Knights, starting Tuesday.

The Redbirds will look to rebound after a 1-5 week at the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp, just their second series loss of 2026

Joshua Baez

Outfielder Joshua Báez continues to showcase a powerful bat. The 22-year-old leads the International League in home runs (26) and RBI (66) and has stolen the most bases on the Redbirds (13). Báez also leads the team in hits at 77.

Ramon Mendoza has raised his batting average, now .302, the highest of players currently on the roster. Mendoza has five home runs and 28 RBI.

On the mound, left-hander Bruce Zimmermann has thrown the most innings at 72 ⅔ and earned the most wins in the rotation with five through 14 starts. Quinn Mathews has the most strikeouts at 83 across 66 innings with a sturdy 3.95 ERA. Right-hander Luis Gastelum has collected a team-best seven winning decisions in relief and has struck out 44 hitters across 40 ⅔ innings with a 2.43 ERA.

Memphis is 1-5 in the second half and 48-33 overall. They reside in last place in the International League West Division.

Tuesday’s game: vs. Charlotte (CWS). RH Hunter Dobbins (4-1, 3.52) vs. TBA. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PM CT.

Springfield Cardinals (off day)

The Double-A Springfield Cardinals were off on Monday, as they prepared for a six-game series with the Arkansas Travelers at Route 66 Stadium, starting Tuesday.

The Cardinals will look to continue their winning ways after winning five of six over the Northwest Arkansas Naturals in front of their home crowd, capped-off by a walk-off win on Sunday.

Ryan Campos has provided a strong bat with the team lead in RBI (45), home runs (9). and batting average (.292). His 12 doubles are second-best on the squad.

Won-Bin Cho displayed strong power and run production in his first taste of Double-A. Cho’s first three hits for Springfield were home runs and he drove in eight over five games, including a walk-off home run on Sunday. Jesús Báez hit .353 with two home runs and six RBI in his first five games at his new level.

Mason Molina


On the mound, Mason Molina is putting together an impressive season. The left-hander holds a 2.87 ERA across a team-high 69 innings and fanned 82, one behind Jurrangelo Cijntje for the team lead.

Springfield is 5-1 in the second half and 36-38 overall. They hold a one-game lead in the Texas League North Division.

Tuesday’s game: vs. Arkansas (SEA).  LHP Braden Davis (0-3, 5.43) vs. TBA. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PM CT.

Peoria Chiefs (off day)

The High-A Peoria Chiefs were off Monday, as they headed home to Dozer Park for a six-game set with the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers, starting Tuesday.

Peoria enters the week following a series split with the Sky Carp in Beloit.

On offense, Jalin Flores leads the Chiefs with 50 RBI and has collected the most hits on the squad with 63. Flores also has 10 home runs. Josh Kross is one behind the hits leader at 62. Kross also has nine home runs and driven in 28.

Blake Aita

On the mound, Blake Aita has turned in 13 strong starts. The right-hander holds a 3.35 ERA across 53 ⅔ innings and his 62 strikeouts are the third-most on the staff. Yhoiker Fajardo has a strong 3.38 ERA across 56 innings in 13 games (11 starts) and has the most strikeouts on the staff at 77.

Peoria is 4-4 in the second half and 36-38 overall. They reside in fourth place in the Midwest League West Division.

Tuesday’s game: vs. Wisconsin (MIL). RHP Blake Aita (2-2, 3.35) vs. RHP Josh Knoth (1-0, 2.93) 6:35 PM CT.

Palm Beach Cardinals (off day)

The Low-A Palm Beach Cardinals were off Monday, as they travel to Publix Field at Joker Marchant Stadium in Lakeland, Florida, for a six-game series with the Lakeland Flying Tigers, starting Tuesday.

The Cardinals will look to continue their momentum after a strong 7-2 start to the second half of the season and a 5-1 home series with the Bradenton Marauders.

Ryan Weingartner has swung a red-hot bat in recent games. The infielder is tied with Yordalin Peña for the team lead in hits at 56. Following a two-home run game on Sunday, Weingartner has taken the team lead in home runs (11) and RBI (45). Peña is second on the squad in long balls (nine) and third in RBI (36).

After an impressive week in which he hit over .500 with seven RBI and recorded a multi-home run game, Brayden Smith was named the Florida State League Player of the Week. Smith also showcased his versatility, manning three different positions across his five games.

On the mound, left-hander Cade Crossland has thrown a team-high 59 innings across 14 appearances and 13 starts, striking out a team-best 86. Crossland has four wins. Dylan Driessen has been sharp out of the bullpen, pitching to a 2.28 ERA across 27 ⅔ innings with 39 strikeouts.

Palm Beach is 7-2 in the second half and 40-35 overall. They hold a 1.5 game lead in the Florida State League East Division.

Tuesday’s game: at Lakeland (DET). LH Cade Crossland (4-2, 3.51) vs. TBA. First pitch is scheduled for 5:30 PM CT.

FCL Cardinals 12, FCL Nationals 5 (7 innings)

The Florida Complex League Cardinals crushed the FCL Nationals in seven innings in Monday’s home contest.

Cooper Hjerpe started for the Cardinals in a rehab outing as he works to rejoin the Springfield Cardinals. The left-hander threw three scoreless innings on no hits, one walk and four strikeouts.

Andrew Bolívar yielded two runs, one earned, in one inning in relief of Hjerpe. Yordy Herrera fired two shutout frames and picked up the win. Alejandro Lóaiza gave up three runs in the seventh but held on to finish the game.

The Cardinals pounced early with a four-run bottom of the first inning. Miguel Hernández drew a lead-off walk. Peoria rehabber Tai Peete reached on a fielder’s choice, with Hernández to third on a throwing error. Cristofer Lebrón walked to load the bases. Kenly Hunter lined a single to bring Hernández home. Royelny Strop followed with a double to plate Peete and Lebrón, with Hunter to third base. J.P. Cabrera reached on a throwing error, allowing Hunter to cross home plate for a 4-0 lead.

The Cardinals added a run in the second. Lebrón doubled and scored on Hunter’s second single of the day to move the Cardinals ahead 5-0.

The Cardinals erupted for seven runs in the third frame take full control. Bracewell Taveras hit a one-out triple and touched home plate on a single from Facundo Velásquez. Daniel Rojas singled. Hernández swatted a third consecutive single to bring Velásquez home. Lebrón drew a walk, though a wild pitch on ball four allowed Lebrón to take third base and Rojas to score. Hunter doubled home Hernández. Strop took a free pass to load the bags with two outs. Cabrera ripped a double to plate Lebrón and Hunter and put the Cardinals in double digits. Taveras reached base via a fielding error, with Strop home on the play for a 12-0 Cardinals lead.

The Nationals rallied late and tallied five runs, though the Cardinals’ lead was too large to surpass.

The FCL Cardinals scored 12 runs on 11 hits. Hunter was 3-for-4, including a double, two runs scored, and three RBI. Cabrera walked, doubled, and tallied three RBI. Strop walked, doubled, scored a run, and drove in two. Hernández went 2-for-3 with two walks, two runs scored, and an RBI. Taveras tripled and scored. Velásquez singled, scored, and notched an RBI.

On the bases, Hunter swiped his 11th bag. Cabrera stole his second base.

On defense, left fielder Velásquez and third baseman Rojas each committed a fielding error.

The FCL Cardinals are 13-24 on the season. They will play a road contest with the FCL Marlins on Tuesday.

Tuesday’s game: at FCL Marlins. Pitching probables have not yet been announced. First pitch is scheduled for 11:00 AM CT.

DSL Cardinals 11, DSL Phillies 8

The Dominican Summer League Cardinals edged the DSL Phillies in Monday’s home contest.

Daniel Gómez made his fifth start for the Cardinals. The right-hander pitched 4 ⅓ innings and allowed one run on three hits, one walk, and three strikeouts. Gómez holds a sturdy 2.65 ERA on the season.

Jhon Cabrera secured the final two outs of the fifth inning and collected his first professional win. Rafeli Moronta gave up three runs, two earned, across two innings. Ryan Rodríguez surrendered three runs and recorded just two outs. Juan Santillán yielded an unearned run over the final 1 ⅓ frames to finish the game and earn his first career save.

The Cardinals opened the scoring with a pair of runs in the first inning. Yeferson Portolatin walked and stole second. In his first professional plate appearance, Jhon Franganten drew a walk. Franganten and Portolatin advanced on a wild pitch. Luis Estrella connected for a single to score Portolatin and Franganten.

The Cardinals doubled the lead in the second. Jesús Pérez singled and Héctor Cabrera walked. Both runners advanced a base on a wild pitch. Pérez crossed home on a Roberth Castillo groundout. Cabrera scored on a wild pitch to extend the lead to 4-0.

The Phillies entered the run column in the third.

The Cardinals took the run back in the home fifth. Franganten singled for his first career hit and scored on Sebastian Rojas’ double for a 5-1 Cardinals lead.

The Phillies narrowed the score to 5-2 with a run in the top of the sixth.

The Cardinals responded with five runs in the home half of the frame. Pérez singled and Cabrera doubled. Castillo singled to plate Pérez and Cabrera. Portolatin legged out an infield single. Franganten grounded into a forceout, with Castillo out at third. Franganten and Portolatin advanced on a wild pitch. Portolatin scored on a Rojas sacrifice fly. Estrella doubled to score Franganten. Christopher Vargas lined a second consecutive double to bring Estrella home and put the Cardinals in double digits at 10-2.

The Phillies scored twice in the seventh and three in the eighth to move within three runs at 10-7.

The Cardinals added an insurance run in the home eighth as Rojas crushed his third home run of the season, a solo shot.

The Cardinals held off another Phillies rally late in the win.

The DSL Cardinals scored 11 runs on 11 hits. Estrella was 2-for-5, including a double, a run scored, and three RBI. Rojas was 2-for-3, including a walk, a double, a home run, and three RBI. Castillo singled and tallied three RBI. Vargas doubled and drove in a run. In his first professional game, the 16-year-old Franganten singled, drew two walks, and scored three runs.

On the bases, Portolatin stole two bags to increase his season total to seven. Pérez swiped his fifth base.

On defense, second baseman Castillo and third baseman Michael Cordero each made a throwing error. Catcher Rojas was charged with a passed ball.

The DSL Cardinals are 12-9 on the season. They will play a road contest with the DSL Marlins on Tuesday.
