Yesterday or the day before I noted Carrior hadn’t appeared in a game and at least yesterday he played DH for his first pro experience. Still likely on the mend of something if he missed 10 games and is DHing 1st game back
Nice Carrion call out, Albert. Carlos Antonio Carrion. Skinny rascal at 6’1 150lbs. But 150lbs. was the Wizard’s playing weight throughout his distinguished career. Ozzie was 2 inches shorter, so if this youngster from Santo Domingo can add about 10 lbs, he’ll be a bit larger version of the Wizard in physique.

If game day is to be believed, Hence is throwing 90 mph FBs and the other guy is throwing 88 mph FBs.

Rainiel Rodriguez with his 4th AA homer today. He’s gotten his line together nicely after a slow start at the level.
With only one game to go, our minor league teams have all lost. I think Hjerpe is listed as PB starter, but I believe our new top 30 prospect, Xavier Cruz pitches tonight after Hjerpe. Cruz throws very hard, and has a. Ice breaking ball. Listed as 6’3 153 pound he has room to add velocity. Get that youngster some cheeseburgers.
I think Rincon could be a valuable reliever, but I’m afraid he won’t get a chance and get taken in the rule 5 draft.
No need to rush him, but Rodriguez could be in the Lou by age 21-22. If he progresses as he has, he’s our starting catcher in 2028, if he can stay at the position.

Hjerpe looking good at Palm Beach, as expected. His fastball was in the 91-93 range mostly. Will they move him up quickly or let him dominate hitters at PB for a while?
Cana had 11 Ks in 5 innings for our DSL team. Player of the day? Also, I’d like to spotlight 2 players.
1) Campos, who I’d catching for Springfield along with Rodriguez. Campos hasn’t got much attention due to the logjam the Cards catching prospects. He’s hitting .287 with 7 homers and 39 rbis.
2) Mitchel, last years 2nd round pick, is hitting less than .200, but his ops is above .700. This is due to him drawing 51 walks.
I think there is potential for both, particularly Mitchel. If he can be more aggressive and cut down on his strikeouts. He’s awfully young.
27 Mitchell walks because he doesn’t swing the bat and A pitchers have bad control. He has really dropped in my eye as like Chase Davis he is too passive to be valuable and won’t swing to actually do damage at times.
I agree about Chase Davis. But on the other hand I think Mitchell has some traits I like. Considering he was in high school last year and is on a full season team this year he has done pretty well. He has 6 homers, so there is some pop in his bat. Does he have a lot to work on, yes. Like any drafted prepster you have to give them more time.

Memphis has a magic number of 3 wins/3 Rochester losses to win the first half in the International League. (They also need to win one of the 3 to beat out Nashville.) The Redbirds have won 8 of their last 10, with recently demoted Saggese (OPS 1.033), Scott (.934), Prieto (.988) and Pozo (.822) playing key roles. Winner of the first half plays the winner of the second half for the league champion.
I didn’t t realize how good Padilla numbers are. He has hit well, stolen 46 bases in just 76 games. He doesn’t strike out much. I am going to bump him up to my top 10. With Rodriguez, Luna, Hernandez, and Dos Santos they represent a strong international group. It’s by far the best group I can remember.
