Atmospheric conditions are quite favorable for tonight’s game at Sportsmans Park. Same over in Cincinnati at Crosley Field for the Royals and Reds. As well at the BOB down in Phoenix for the Doyers and DBacks.
And din-din today will be Kentucky Fried Chicken. I drove to the Indiana Military Museum in Vincennes today and walked around for awhile and then stopped at KFC and got me a 3-piece dinner. An ice cold slushy Mt. Dew and then a big bowl of Turkey Hill Homemade Vanilla ice cream.

You eat like a King, Rat. I am going to try making blackened catfish fillets in my cast iron wok. Also some spicy sauteed cabbage and leeks, which i will make first and keep warm in the oven.
I’m curious to know where you picked up the fillets, Bling? I went for groceries earlier today and actually had fish on my grocery list, but was reluctant to get anything frozen and the fresh stuff was not only higher than a cat’s back, but also looked a little questionable in regards to “fresh.”

CF Victor Scott LTD, Lady Bling pronably got the fillets from Dierbergs. Even if bought ‘fresh’ it probably arrives at the supermarket frozen. Supermarket salmon is that way at least.
I am going old school with some beans and cornbread tonight. Baked beans, pulled pork, bbq sauce all on top of a couple of pieces of golden cornbread.
Thanks, Bling. I made the rounds at Schnuck’s and Aldi’s today, but didn’t get to a chance to swing by Dierberg’s. I plan on a stop at one of their stores tomorrow afternoon on the short ride home from watching my little granddaughter for her mom. Hopefully I won’t be too tired because, at a bit over 3 years old, she has a way of seeing to it that her paw-paw 1TD works a full 9 when it’s my turn…We’re talking park, playground, ice cream at Andy’s and then back home for an intense and grueling workout on the trampoline. It wouldn’t surprise me too much if she’s planning on being a drill instructor when she grows up…Haha!
You can’t hardly go wrong with fresh out of the oven cornbread, Gscottar. I like it saturated with plenty of strawberry jelly and washed down with iced tea. To me, it’s as good as dessert.
I think we will keep the vegetarian thing going for another night, although we had grilled salmon last night. It was excellent by the way.
We will take some vegetarian stew from a couple days ago that is made with sweet potatoes, carrots, celery, tomatoes, garlic and spiced up, and throw that in flour tortillas. Top it with sharp cheddar cheese and perhaps green leafy veggies. Homemade Spanish rice on the side and tortilla chips with salsa. Yours truly will like pour a cold, frosty one while the Lovely Lady Bike will stick with agua. We might go with sliced fresh strawberries again for dessert, but we picked up some black raspberry ice cream that could very well call our name.
Hope to see Walker come through with three hits tonight after the rough time last night.
TD there is a store called Olive Supermarket on Olive in University City. Its mostly for all the Asians that live thereabouts. They have a fresh and live fish counter and mongers who know what they are doing. They have catfish, gutted but otherwise whole on ice so you know what you are getting. Much too big to cook whole as a fiddler, but you pick one out and have them fillet it.
Din-dins galore! And every one of them tremendously tasty. I couldn’t begin to single out one as tonight’s Game Thread Din-Din of The Day winner. So the blue ribbons go to The Esteemed Rat, Bling, TD, Scotty, BicycleMike……and let’s also award one to Cardinal in France, as we all know his din-din tonight was fit for royalty, as it always is. With dandy din-dins this plentiful, there is absolutely no way our Birds can flounder tonight. I’m calling by bookie quick to plop down quite the tidy sum on our boys. Well plated, gentlemen!
We too went the vegetarian route tonight, quenelles topped with a mushroom sauce aurore. Iced tea was the beverage and strawberries the dessert.
Let’s see some big time redbird offense tonight.
Rah Cardinals!I think im a Dustin May fan. He acted like he had been there before when he struck out the side with the leadoff man at third. I have my concerns about our phenom in aa.
A quick gander at the NL out-of-town scoreboard reveals the cubbies getting the “Jump” on the A’s with a 1st inning tally. 1-0 Chicago as they head to the 2nd in Wrigley.
I forgot this is May’s first start since flirting with a no no. Sometimes you have a bit of a hangover but he seems to be doing fine so far.
