I wonder if this is Dobbins last rehab start. He has looked ready. But they could play the game of waiting out his max rehab time to evaluate whether he takes Leahy or Pallante’s rotation spot.
The scheduled game between the Chiefs and Wisconsin Timber Rattlers on Tuesday, April 14 at Neuroscience Group Field has been postponed due to forecasted severe weather in Wisconsin.
The game will be made up as part of a doubleheader on Wednesday, April 15, with first pitch of game one set for 12:10 pm. Game two will follow approximately 45 minutes after the conclusion of game one. Both games will be seven inning contests.
Springfield is being obliterated tonight. It’s 17-0 after 4 innings. Doyle couldn’t make it out of the first inning…should probably put the idea that he could get to St Louis quickly out of our minds. He’s overmatched at AA thus far.
Springfield fooled me into thinking they were going to be a good team after starting out 4-0 on the season. The bullpen is very, very bad.
Dobbins pitched well andm Van Dyke pitched very well. Van Dyke should maybe get a couple of more Palm Beach starts and if he keeps dominating they should promote him to Peoria in Mayish. I don’t know rotation slot wise what to do but he would need to be challenged more.

The Cards have Thursdays off through and including April 23, but starting April 24 they play 17 games in a row. My bet is that Dobbins gets the 6th and 12th game to keep giving the starters some extra rest early. That would mean an April 29 debut. He started his rehab March 31, so that just barely fits in the window when he could return.
Then they can make a decision about which of Dobbins, Pallante, or Leahy goes to the pen or goes to Memphis. Or perhaps someone will have a health problem. Leahy and Pallante would both have four more starts by then.
I think Gags has it pegged. Slow Dobbins down until they really need him and avoid making any tough decisions in the interim that could hurt them later.

Nelson Vasquez is hitting .190 in 12 games at AAA Memphis.
Appears that the Cardinals coaching staff was on point with that particular roster decision.
It does appear that way ZTR although it might be that he was totally demoralized after the surprise “demotion” and hasn’t recovered mentally. I am totally speculating on that part but regardless he needs to shake it off and get his act together.
Velazquez has also made some Ozunian defensive plays in the outfield that concerned me more than his slow start at the plate.
FWIW, over the last four games, he is 6-for-15 (.400) at the plate.
Tink topped out at 91 MPH on his 4-seam fastball. I don’t see any way that could happen unless he’s significantly compromised physically. So sad for the guy.
Kyle in the podcast mentioned Hence is trying to swap his arm angle so maybe something there is causing the velo drop but not good either way
Great outing by Mathews, but his control issues remain. I was hopeful he might be in the rotation mix this summer. Is there any news on Fitts’ injury. With his injury we the only real insurance to our rotation is Dobbins. I know it’s way too early, but Van Dyke looks like an innings eater.
