Cardinals should win 9 to 1.8

Great comment ZTR! Made me laugh!

Fun fact – The Cardinals have allowed 68 earned runs on the season. Of those 68:

22% have been allowed by Svanson!
21% have been allowed by May
12% have been allowed by Leahy
9% have been allowed by Liberatore
7% have been allowed by Roycroft

Basically, half the earned runs our opponents have scored against us have come off Svanson, May, and Roycroft in a span of 25 2/3 innings.

I thought Svanson was going to be a key piece of the bullpen this year after his good 2025. So far, he’s been the key to the revolving door of runners. You think he almost has to go to Memphis to get right at this point.

    Check your phones at 12:01am!!!

    Lots of Cards moves.

    -Pages traded for international money
-Fermin traded for stale 2020 cracker jacks.
    -Crooks called up
-Torres called up (BEYOND way over due)

Svanson should be on the bus to reset in Memphis – bless his heart.

May can stay for now but he shouldn’t unpack his bags.

I would send Svanson to Memphis, move Leahy back to the pen if he can’t pitch more than 4 innings, and call up Fitts or activate Dobbins to be SP5.

Svanson’s defense behind him did him no favors. If Winn is playing SS, I think Svanson gets out of that inning with a lot less damage. Maybe even no runs allowed.

May will be fine. In his 2nd start, he got hit in the ankle with the batted ball in the first inning. It was his push leg and I’m sure it affected him. I give him a pass on that outing.

The Cardinals need an upgrade in LF. Church is good, defensively, but he needs to start hitting. Saggese does a decent job out there but he needs to keep his strikeouts down.

If Crooks keep hitting at AAA, he needs to come up and start 75-80% off the games and move Pages to backup C.

I wonder if moving Pallante and Leahy back to the bullpen and replacing them with Fitts and Dobbins would help. Remove Svanson and Shuster.

I think this team is closer to a possible playoff team than many are giving them credit for. They are not an elite team but they could make the playoffs if the chips fall right.

If Pallante has a usual outing he will probably turn in a 5 inning start with a little too much traffic. If he is over the plate more to reduce the walks he could get hit around more. We shall see. The pen will probably have to cover half the game or thereabouts once again. Kind of a typical game when your #5 is going.

I guess so, but he’s only hitting .154, OPS+ 51. The automatic out wouldn’t help but his defense would.

Just making the playoffs is not even close to how this team should be thinking. That mentality got us where we are at this point. I knew this stuff would pop up if this team was even halfway competitive, almost wish we were being blown out every game, would stop that stuff. This org needs to focus on the longterm and longterm only.

There is a big pile of green stuff just west of St. Louis as I type this. The WhiteSox and Royals game in KC is already in a delay.

We will be fortunate this game is not delayed or rained out.

Runner reaches on catcher’s interference in the top and then Contreras hits a ball low on the outside corner to dead center with the wind blowing out and it goes about 6 feet over the wall. Cards hit a couple balls hard but right at fielders in the bottom half.

He’s not an outfielder Bling. I don’t really even understand why he’s on this team other than he’s out of options. To me, he’s a placeholder like a few bullpen guys and Pozo.

There are guys that deserve the roster spots more than Fermin and Pozo as much as I like Pozo personality. Torres and Blaze should take their spots

Walker with another HR? Wow he is on fire and wants that sole HR league lead. Pitch was down this time too that he hit out and was a good pitch. He is hitting HRs like it is nothing to the biggest part of the field. With power like his he doesn’t need to ever focus on pulling the ball and just go with the pitch.

Our defense is letting Pallante down today. First Urias and now Urias again. Plus Herrera’s catcher’s interference early that led to a run.

Defense didn’t really have much to do with the struggles Pallante is having this inning. He is just getting smoked. He allows too many balls in play and can’t put hitters away.

Dobbins and Fitts should take Pallante and Leahy’s spot.

6-1 now. Pallante’s has been missing location all day but his defense behind him has been ugly. Urias just let a grounder go right by him this inning that would have been a double play. But because he didn’t touch it, it’s not an error. Urias had a misplay early on as well. Plus Fermin just didn’t get to a pop up in left that a normal left fielder would have had. Not getting outs when you can often leads to run explosions.

The last thing we need is a 4 inning start.

No doubt Fermin is a subpar LF. The only reason he is out there is because Church has not been able to hit. For all of the raving about Church I really don’t see how he is any different than Siani was.
