The St. Louis Cardinals minor league system was 1-1 on Saturday. The Cardinal Nation’s Player of the Day for the second consecutive day, Springfield OF Joshua Baez, was 2-for-3 with a home run and two RBI. Other standouts include Jack Ralston, Liam Doyle, Zach Levenson, and Leonardo Bernal.

Memphis Redbirds 2 at Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp 11
The Triple-A Memphis Redbirds were clobbered by the Jumbo Shrimp in Jacksonville on Saturday.
Max Rajcic started for Memphis. The right-hander pitched three innings and allowed seven runs on eight hits, two walks, and two strikeouts. Rajcic took the loss.
Zack Weiss surrendered three runs over one inning in relief of Rajcic. Roddery Muñoz yielded a run in an inning of work. Osvaldo Berrios fanned three across 1 ⅔ scoreless innings. Jack Ralston struck out two over 1 ⅓ shutout frames.
The Redbirds plated the inaugural run in the top of the first inning. César Prieto hit his 31st double of the season. Blaze Jordan walked. Koperniak reached first base on a forceout play, with Prieto to third and Jordan out at second. Prieto crossed home plate via a wild pitch for a 1-0 Redbirds lead.
Jacksonville answered with five runs in the second and a pair of runs in the third to grab a 7-1 lead. Memphis chipped into the deficit with a run in the top of the fourth.
Matt Lloyd led-off the frame with a double. Lloyd moved to third base on a Noah Mendlinger flyout and scored on a wild pitch to trim the gap to 7-2.
The Jumbo Shrimp added three in the home fourth and a run in the fifth to extend the lead to 11-2. Memphis was unable to rally in the late innings.
The Redbirds scored two runs on four hits. Prieto was 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored. Lloyd walked, doubled, and scored a run. Jordan drew two walks and singled. The lineup was 0-for-12 with runners in scoring position and didn’t record an RBI, as both runs scored on wild pitches.
The Redbirds did not steal a base.
On defense, Mendlinger nailed a runner at second base from right field.
Memphis is 75-66 overall, and 34-34 in the second half. They will look to take the series finale on Sunday.

Springfield Cardinals 7, San Antonio Missions 4
The Double-A Springfield Cardinals edged the San Antonio Missions at Hammons Field on Saturday.
Liam Doyle started for the Cardinals in his Double-A debut. The left-hander threw two scoreless innings on two hits, no walks, and three strikeouts.

Ricardo Velez struck out three and yielded a run across 2 ⅓ innings in relief of Doyle and collected his fifth win of 2025. Austin Love followed with 1 ⅔ shutout frames. Hunter Hayes tossed two scoreless innings with a pair of strikeouts. Mason Burns allowed three runs in the ninth but held on to finish the game.
Springfield’s bats started hot with a four-run bottom of the first.
Jon Jon Gazdar drew a lead-off walk. Joshua Baez took a one-out walk to put two runners on base. Leonardo Bernal connected for a single to score Gazdar and put Springfield in front 1-0.
Chase Davis took the third free pass of the frame to load the bags. Zach Levenson lined a single to bring Baez and Bernal home and extend the lead to 3-0.
Trey Paige reloaded the bases with a walk. Levenson was picked off and caught stealing third base, but stayed in the rundown long enough for Davis to cross home on the play for a 4-0 lead before being tagged out to end the inning.
Springfield added a pair of runs in the second.
With two outs, rehabber Nolan Arenado was hit by a pitch and moved to second base via a wild pitch. Baez crushed his 15th Double-A home run, a two-run shot, for a 6-0 Cardinals lead.

San Antonio entered the run column in the fourth to move the score to 6-1. Springfield took the run back in the fifth.
Baez and Bernal hit back-to-back singles to put runners at the corners. Levenson drew a walk, with Baez home on the play via a passed ball to stretch the lead to 7-1.
Springfield held off a late San Antonio rally in the victory.
The Cardinals scored seven runs on six hits. Baez was 2-for-3, including a walk, two runs scored, a home run, and two RBI. Levenson walked twice, singled, and drove in two. Bernal was 2-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI. The lineup was 4-for-8 (.500) with runners in scoring position.
On the bases, Levenson was picked off second base and caught stealing third base.
The Cardinals turned two double plays in an errorless performance.
Springfield is 87-50 overall, and 44-24 in the second half. The Texas League North Division champions of both halves of the season will look to clinch the series win and take the final game of the regular season on Sunday, as they gear up for the postseason.
