6:45 p.m.
RHP Miles Mikolas (6-9, 5.11) vs. RHP Chase Dollander (2-9, 6.68 ERA)
FanDuel // KMOX // WIJRAugust 10, 2025 at 8:51 am #290110Mikolas invited fans to buy tickets to come to the game to boo him so that Bill will have the money to buy a good free agent pitcher to replace him in 2026.
August 11, 2025 at 12:48 am #290236Will we get 20K in the stands? Last night was only 30 and change.
I mean all the fans know Miles is starting. Place might be a ghost town.

stlcard25ParticipantNot saying they are a good team…but coming off the series wins against the Dodgers and Cubs, and with one of the worst teams in history in town, a sweep would put them in striking distance of a playoff spot. It’s not terribly exciting, but it is something at least. Not exactly murderers row upcoming, with games against the Rockies, Marlins, As and Pirates in the next month. It would be good to see the young hitters start to put together a ramp to a better 2026 as well.
August 11, 2025 at 10:19 am #290256The last time the Cardinals swept a series, and in fact the last time they won any three games in a row, was late June in Cleveland. Their last sweep at home was Memorial Day weekend vs. Arizona.
So if you are an optimist, they are long overdue. If you are a pessimist, you would probably be delighted with two wins over the worst team in baseball, yet the same team that beat the Cards two of three in Denver a couple of weeks ago.

jj-cf-stlParticipantGray threw a complete game shutout game 1 vs CLE.
Mikolas went 4 IP, 6 ER, and our lineup overcame it.
Libby threw 6 IP, 0 ER.Fedde and Mikolas can trash a sweep opportunity in two IP. Feede is gone but Pallante is now broken. A realist could say odds are poor to sweep, vs any club, unless the lineup overachieves on cue.
August 11, 2025 at 11:36 am #290259I abandoned all thinking about playoffs a good while back, concluding that entertaining such nonsense is deleterious to the digestive system, seeking instead such morsels of joy that occasionally fall from the table in the form of series wins against good teams and whipping up on the bottom feeders.
Rah Cardinals!August 11, 2025 at 11:44 am #290260A positive for the #STLCards tonight is that over his last eight starts, all four of Miles Mikolas' bad outings (12.71 ERA) were on the road. In his last four home starts, he has a 1.66 ERA. He didn't face the Rockies in Denver last month.

August 11, 2025 at 2:45 pm #290276I’d have to say that the primary positive for the Cardinals is that they’re playing a baseball team that may very well prove to be the absolute worst in the history of the Big Leagues. Their opponents in tonight’s game are 57 games below .500 and still have 45 games remaining to play before the carnage officially comes to an end. To me, it’s way beyond the scope of what could be termed an inhumane slaughter.

August 11, 2025 at 5:16 pm #290295Herrera DH again. Burly in LF.
August 11, 2025 at 5:26 pm #290297I don’t guess teams uncork champagne anymore after securing a pennant or a WS championship but, if I were a Rockies player, I’d uncork a bottle in the clubhouse every time my team won a game from now until the end of the season. I’d have to guess it would go a long way to boost morale…”Esprit de corps!”
August 11, 2025 at 6:07 pm #290299No TV last night here at the Bikey Mikey residence, and none for this series either. I will listen to Rooney and Horton, and if we win watch the condensed version the next morning while working out.
Mikolas should mean an automatic loss, but facing the Rox and pitching at home, this might be enough to get him through with a “W”.

jj-cf-stlParticipantHerrera at DH helps manage his hammy.
August 11, 2025 at 7:01 pm #290302Not exactly murderers row upcoming, with games against the Rockies, Marlins, As and Pirates
The Pirates have swept us and took 2 of 3 earlier in the season. Marlins took us 2-3 IIRC.
Nothing is a given with this team. Just be nice to take 2-3 from all of them and see what happens.
August 11, 2025 at 7:11 pm #290305FYI – MLB.com released their updated prospect ratings today. They have their overall top 100 and each teams top 30. Here is our top 10 and where they are in the top 100:
1. Wetherholt – 6
2. Doyle – 34
3. Bernal – 74
4. Rodriguez – 99
5. Mathews
6. Crooks
7. Jesus Baez
8. Roby
9. Padilla
10. R. MitchellAs for the game, no score after 2 innings.
August 11, 2025 at 7:15 pm #290306If they call that throw by Gorman an error, that’s too bad. Goldschmidt would have had that throw while still on the bag and made it look easy.
August 11, 2025 at 7:17 pm #290307I thought the same thing Forsch. It was hard to tell exactly from the angle but it didn’t look terrible. Maybe Willson was just anticipating it would be bad given Gorman’s track record lately.
August 11, 2025 at 7:27 pm #290309Osuagec – I’m not sure how you feel but Padilla, Baez, and probably Mitchell all feel too high to me.
Burleson brings home Scott on a base hit.
August 11, 2025 at 7:35 pm #290310I have felt that Wilson’s stretch for throws at first is by far his biggest weakness.
August 11, 2025 at 7:40 pm #290311While the stadium is definitely empty, it does seem like there are more fans at the game then there was early in the season. However, that may be due to summer.
August 11, 2025 at 7:42 pm #290312Jnlevel – IMO all prospect lists should be taken lightly because it is impossible to correctly predict how good someone in A ball or below is going to be despite the scouting reports. Even Doyle at number 2 who has never thrown a pitch in professional baseball is just a guess.
August 11, 2025 at 7:52 pm #290313
jj-cf-stlParticipantWillson has one of those every game.
August 11, 2025 at 7:57 pm #290314Mikolas no hitter through 5. He’s pretty good at home and atrocious on the road.
August 11, 2025 at 8:07 pm #290315There goes the no-hitter.
