How much longer are we going to tolerate Arenado and his pitiful hitting?

Not doing anything again this year.

All he does is hit little weak groundballs or little weak pop flies.

Rats, I don’t think he has been nearly as bad as you make it sound like. Is he the All Star player he used to be? Not at all. But he has been right at a league average hitter this year (98 wRC+) while playing a very good 3B defense. He is walking more and striking out less this year as well so the numbers may improve in the warmer months. Does he deserve to be cleanup? No, but Arenado is the 3B and moving him to move him would make the team worse

Haha!..Yeah he’s hit quite a few weak GB’s lately, but he’s also stopped several blistering GB’s that were destined for hits to LF and turned them into outs…I could be wrong, but I think his bat will eventually heat up and generate some production. Until it does, I’m okay with his mitt at 3B.

Yeah, let’s run Gorman out there instead so his .170 average can make things all better at third.

On another subject, I guess I’m the only one who doesn’t know this, but what precisely is the significance of the hand flop each time a Cardinal gets a hit?
A fist pump perhaps I could understand, but a wrist jiggle???

CIF-Without specific knowledge, I was guessing it meant young birds flapping their wings. But AI is a know it all, and it says that it just means their happy, no other meaning for the gesture.

Did anyone else notice this weekend there are more “rivalry” games? Missouri (KC vs STL), NYC with Yankees Mets, LA with Angels Dodgers, Chicago with White Sox Cubs, etc.

Apparently this was by design and the weekend was supposed to be rivalry weekend. I wonder how much lining all of these up for this specific weekend contributed to the weirdness of the schedule. STL has played the NL East teams for more series (5) than NL Central teams (4) so far.

It seems like they would have been better suited ensuring the 4 series of the year are division games and the last 4 series of the year being division games. Although with the current math of 5 teams per division that wouldn’t work out. In terms of schedule generation, things will get a lot easier when they expand to 32 teams and likely make 8 4 team divisions.

Wacha has been brutal to righties this season. His numbers suggest stacking lefties in the lineup. If they want Herrera to bat they can sit Pozo (if he hasn’t been demoted yet).
Pozo = lettuce on the dock!

Yeah, I think the arms flapping is the team’s mantra this year of “Cardinals flying high.” It seems every team has a little gesture they do – sort of a bonding and motivational thing.

As for Areando, he is doing just fine. Great defense, and not as much pop as you would like but doing okay. Probably should hit sixth, with maybe Herrera at 4. But he is not a problem. The problems so far are Walker, who finally came through big last night, and Gorman. Although Gorman rarely plays. Burly has come along some lately and seems to be the lefty DH right now ahead of Gorman.

One of the Phillies best relievers, Alvarado, hit w/ an 80 game PED suspension, also ineligible for postseason according to the athletic.

I haven’t seen too many “fire Marmol” posts lately. Apparently Oli has gotten a lot smarter the last two weeks…lol

Get rid of him before he throws a monkey wrench into the recent success and allow Descalso to lead us to the promised land before it’s too late…

Cardinals are keeping Wacha on the ropes, but can’t break through.

Apparently nobody’s going to trade for Arenado. Why not go ahead and bat him where he belongs in the lineup?

Wacha was one of my favorite Cardinals during his time with us. His brother played football at one of my Alma maters, the U of Wyoming. He was a pretty good linebacker and I believe a four year starter.

Yeah, not as much complaining about Marmol these days. When your guys are hitting, pitching and fielding well, you get a lot smarter as a manager. 😀

Burleson in the OF is an adventure I just never want to have to watch again. He caught that, but he really struggled there. 3 Catchers on the roster though means he has to cover the OF every now and again.

“Apparently nobody’s going to trade for Arenado. Why not go ahead and bat him where he belongs in the lineup?“

If Herrera keeps it going, we need to flip him and Arenado in the order. I would go ahead and make that switch now, as Herrera’s production behind Noot, Winn and Donovan would be a terrific run producing group.

Burly with a solo shot. Defense is not good at all from him in the OF, but his bat is starting to pick up.

I agree with BikeMike. I would swap Herrera and Arenado. That would give him a lot of RBI opportunities behind Noot, Winn, Donny

I’m not picking on Arenado. His glove is still gold his bat is not.

That relay attempt from Donovan to Winn reminded me a of an OF version that I saw that involved Dave Parker and Omar Moreno of the Pirates. Moreno’s momentum as he cut the baseball off in the OF to prevent it from plugging the RCF gap was such that it prevented him from making a strong throw back towards the IF so he quickly underhanded the basebal to his converging RF’er Parker who was in a better position to make a strong throw and that’s exactly what The Cobra did as he nailed Tony Scott who was attempting to dig out a double. I can still hear Jack Buck’s call on the televised broadcast as he loudly exclaimed, “Folks, you just saw a spectacular Big League play!”

I thought they were going to wave Donovan home. Looked like he may have been able to score the lead run, but I guess with 1 out they decided to hold him up. I hope we can push him across.

Edit; Heck, there was 2 outs!
