Rob must be a whale of a good guy, maybe with some coaching attributes. Or there’s no way they bring him back at age 30.

For anybody, besides mudville, who was wondering how to pronounce
‘Ixan’, as in Ixan Henderson, here it is:

FWIW, it is on Henderson’s Player Page here at The Cardinal Nation. Go to Rosters>Springfield or enter his name in the blue magnifying glass area at the upper right.

What a day for the FCL Cards scoring 26 runs in the double header

In reverse, what a horrible day for the Memphis Redbirds today. They were outscored 16-0 in a double header today.

Rainel Rodrigquez with his 4th HR of the year. He has picked up where he left off last year smashing the ball. With the FCL season starting so early, I wonder if the Cards will call Rainel up to Palm Beach once the FCL season ends late July to get a month of games in at A ball

Also, it is funny how wrong the MILB website is. They have Rainel Rodriguez listed as a 3B when he has not played a single inning there.

Thanks. I do know that TCN typically explains the pronunciation of the name of a player with an unusual, or unfamiliar name. I did look, first, at TCN roster matrix, but I did know about the blue magnifying glass. I know it’s way too early to talk about it, but I’m already looking forward to what the TCN 2026 Prospect Guide has to say about him compared to what they had to say about him in the 2025 Guide.

Very comprehensive and informative piece for the May 14, Minor League Notebook. Thank you, Marilyn.

Rainel Rodriguez had his 5th HR today in 9 games. He is absolutely raking.

On the not so good side Saladin was crushed today. 11 ER in 4 innings. Ouch

He’s just 3 months past the age of 18. He might grow an inch or two in the coming years. No idea what his arm is like or if he could play in the outfield. Exciting to see s kid rake at any level even if it’s only the FSL.

Seems like winning days are not the norm lately for the system. The overall record for the four full season teams is 70-79. Last year it seemed like things were on the upswing; this year it’s looking like we lack depth. So, what happened? Is it the string of pitching injuries, youth moving up too soon, etc.?

The pitching has been disastrous lately with all the injuries and a few just performing poorly. Plus, Peoria continues to struggle offensively.

There’s just not enough guys playing real well. Probably only 5 success stories out there where a guy has really stepped up.

Jnevel summarized my challenge in re-ranking the Top 50 Prospects (posted today for subscribers). It sure is more fun when many are performing well.

The box scores have been quite ugly. The pitching is getting decimated. Some of that is injuries, but a lot is bad performance. The whole Peoria rotation looked mildly exciting going into the year as they did great in Palm Beach, but wow they have been horrible this year.

Peoria pitching is back at it again today. Salas 11 ER in 4.2. The amount of runs these guys are giving up in starts sounds impossible.

At least in Springfield Roby had an excellent start. 5.2 innings of 2 run ball with 11 Ks and no walks

I decided to look at the Brewers system and their records versus ours. The Brewers have a great farm system and are aggressive promoting guys quickly. Unfortunately they have a much better record in the minors as well. Minors records don’t mean everything, but it does feel nice to know you are establishing winning ways with your developing players.

Looking across the half-dozen farm system rankings I follow, this spring, the Brewers averaged seventh of 30 while the Cardinals were 18th. The results to date closely align with this.

FCL games start early, so checking in and guess what, Rainel has another HR to put him at 6 while the 10th game is still in progress.
