3:05 p.m.
LHP Matthew Liberatore (1-1, 3.93) vs. RHP Kodai Senga (2-1, 1.06)
FOX // KMOXApril 19, 2025 at 9:12 am #279847We need either an absolute gem from Liberatore OR a 10 run outburst from the offense today.
April 19, 2025 at 10:44 am #279854I was surprised to see Lindor already at 250 HRs as he is still relatively young and SS don’t hit for a lot of power. I knew he had been good, but he looks like a guy who may go into the Hall of Fame. 30+ HR a year playing a really good SS defense and a good knack for getting on base. I know people thought his contract was an albatross at the time. With the way contracts are going and Lindor is playing, he may make that look like a bargain.
April 19, 2025 at 12:57 pm #279856Lindor’s put together a real nice career at the SS position with 5 seasons at 30 or more HR’s, 4 seasons at 100 or more runs scored with an additional 3 seasons in which he crossed HP 98 or more times, 6 seasons in the top 10 MVP voting and 2 GG’s at the SS position. He’s also collected 187 SB’s and, like you mentioned, is only 31 years of age. If he continues with a similar sort of performance for another 4 or 5 seasons, I’d have to guess he warrants consideration for the HOF. And in regards to power, he absolutely annihilated that offering from Fernandez.
April 19, 2025 at 12:59 pm #279857I’m calling a 6-0 win for the Cards
April 19, 2025 at 12:59 pm #279858Lib finally emerging and becoming a reliable starter would be a huge benefit for any near term success.
April 19, 2025 at 1:01 pm #279859Yeah 1TD Lindor at least has done enough already to stick warrant sticking around on the ballot for a few years. With some good season before turning 35, I imagine he will have a very good case to join the Hall of Fame
April 19, 2025 at 1:14 pm #279861He’s real good and, like you pointed out, at this stage he’s been well worth that 10 year contract arrangement that the Mets agreed to. He’s earned every penny so far.
April 19, 2025 at 2:24 pm #279865A little pregame Cardinal manager trivia…
Only 4 former Cardinal managers in the history of the franchise have stood on the top step of the Redbird dugout for 1000 or more regular season games. Most of you probably know that the names of those 4 former Cardinal managers are Red Schoendienst, Whitey Herzog, Tony LaRussa and Mike Matheny. And probably everyone knows that 3 of those former managers are members of the HOF. The following are the 4 W/L pct’s. of those 4 former Redbird managers in order of best to worst W/L pct. during their tenure as manager of the St. Louis, Cardinals
.555
.544
.530
.522The trivia question is, can you place the names of the 4 former Redbird managers in correct order from best to worst to the corresponding W/L pct’s. listed above?
April 19, 2025 at 2:51 pm #279866FYI,
The Doppler Radar shows clear in the New York area. Doesn’t appear to be any chance of a rainout in this one.April 19, 2025 at 2:59 pm #279867Those watching the games, how does Saggese look at SS compared to Donovan?
April 19, 2025 at 3:15 pm #279868How you boys like the Mets unis?
April 19, 2025 at 3:18 pm #279869I like this Fox announcer. I’m sure he won’t show any Cards bias.
April 19, 2025 at 3:18 pm #279870Liberatore looked really sharp in that 1st inning. His breaking ball looks really good with good command so far even in just a few pitches
April 19, 2025 at 3:19 pm #279871So much for watching the Cardinals on FOX. The Dodgers vs Rangers game is being shown in Oklahoma.
April 19, 2025 at 3:19 pm #279872Bling, he fields the ball about average. In my opinion, he’s got a little more range than Donovan but poorer footwork. His arm is not real good though. It’s Eckstein-esque to me. He’s a much better fit at 2B. That said, he’s not terrible as a fill-in.
April 19, 2025 at 3:20 pm #279873KCB, those are hideous uniforms
April 19, 2025 at 3:32 pm #279874Concur. But not nearly as hideous as Gormans ab.
April 19, 2025 at 3:58 pm #279875Yeah Gorman wasn’t thrown a single strike that PA
April 19, 2025 at 3:59 pm #279876Libby missed up a few times in that inning to the wrong group of hitters to miss up to
April 19, 2025 at 4:25 pm #279877thanks j. Maybe they should try Gorman there.
April 19, 2025 at 4:37 pm #279878What the Cards really need is one of Walker, Gorman, or Burly to actually develop into a true #4 or #5 hitter. All have their flaws so far and need to make some adjustments to be a feared middle of the lineup hitter.
April 19, 2025 at 4:39 pm #279879I would agree with Jnevels assessment of Saggasse’s defense. A viable backup SS, but not someone I want out there every day. Profiles better at 2B
April 19, 2025 at 4:57 pm #279880Wow, Liberatore almost met the same fate as Marie Antoinette on that scorcher back up the box…
April 19, 2025 at 5:09 pm #279881Saggese is now 13 for 29. I don’t see how there’s any way that he goes anywhere when Winn is ready. It’s my guess that Luckenbach’s days are numbered.
