after Thursday’s day off will be the Red Sox’ home opener… but the weekend weather forecast is dicey…
1:10 p.m.
RHP Erick Fedde (1-0, 1.50) vs. RHP Walker Buehler (0-1, 8.31)
FDSM // KMOXApril 3, 2025 at 5:10 am #278629For the home opener at Fenway I thought it would be in order to offer up a little philosophical thought attributed to a former Red Sox LHP’er who’s theoretical and practical ideas would rival those of either Plato or Socrates…
“Baseball is the belly-button of our entire society. Straighten out baseball, and you straighten out the rest of the world.”
Bill “Spaceman” Lee
April 3, 2025 at 3:02 pm #278647This could be the very first CCFF in 2025. For the uninformed that is Cardinals Catfish Fiddlers Friday.
It’s very possible catfish fiddlers will be on the menu tomorrow. Unless the guy at the store that runs the meat department has some sausage for me. Their sausage is better than the Johnsonville or Tennessee Pride sausage. If he has some I might have some sausage gravy and biscuits instead of CCFF. Just have to see.
Avocado likes hitting at the Green Monster. I am going to call this one 7-3 St. Louis with Avocado getting off the schneid with a big fly to LF.

April 3, 2025 at 6:29 pm #278658Will we have more fans at Fenway then for our last home contest? Lol
It’s Boston’s home-weekend opener. So no but it could be debated any other time in the season. Lol
April 3, 2025 at 6:44 pm #278659For some reason the site will not let me start a new topic. So I will post my link here
I would have thought that the answer would be that 60s Pirates team that beat the Yanks despite being outscored by a ton, but…
April 3, 2025 at 9:00 pm #278662Obviously they’re basing their conclusions on regular season W/L record. The ’60 Pirates completed the regular season at 36 games over .500 for a real nice .617 W/L pct. before going on to knock off Casey Stengel’s Yankees in the WS despite being disproportionately outscored in that 7 game classic. I’m always more than a little surpised that Pirates manager Danny Murtaugh isn’t a member of the HOF. He was a winning mainstay in Pittsburgh for 15 years and never managed any team other than the Pirates.
April 3, 2025 at 9:00 pm #278663The Reds lost at Milwaukee 1-0.
That’s their 3rd straight game they have lost 1-0.
First time since the 1960 Phillies.
Pitiful.
They might want to sign Matt Carpenter.
April 3, 2025 at 9:06 pm #278664If they’re looking to push some runs across, they’d do better with Bench or Perez.
April 3, 2025 at 11:09 pm #278668The Braves have as yet to place a game in the W column and could quite possibly be headed for that dreaded realm of being a team that loses a chance at the post-season as a result of a horrible start. At 0-7, they desperately need to get off the schneid.
April 3, 2025 at 11:24 pm #278669Obviously they’ll never maintain the current pace but, through their first 7 games, Padres’ pitching has only allowed 11 ER’s. If this keeps up for too much longer, Showalter will be wanting to check behind their ears…
April 3, 2025 at 11:31 pm #278670Quote of the day…
I always looked for the same pitch for my entire career. A breaking ball. All of the time. I never once worried about the fastball. They couldn’t throw it past me. None of them.

April 3, 2025 at 11:39 pm #278671Don’t know who said it, but I thought it was pretty good…
“When he was born they were going to name him, ‘Line Drive Double’ but they settled on, Al Oliver.”
Al always frightened me when he stepped into the box as a Pirate and an Expo, but I received some solace and comfort when another Albert happened to come along…
April 4, 2025 at 3:19 am #278672Din Din chez CiF will be following Rat’s lead with sausage gravy over biscuits with scrumptious Toulouse sausages. To be followed by a simple fruit salad in anticipation of spring.
April 4, 2025 at 5:23 am #278673The author of your Al Oliver quote most likely was from Red Schoendienst, TD. During baseball season, I don’t know how any serious fan isn’t thinking “catfish fiddlers” for Friday din-dins. Baseball, apple pie, Chevrolet and catfish fiddlers are pure Americana. When I officially retire one day, I’m still seriously contemplating opening up a nice little 2 story rooftop restaurant, to which I will bestow the name “Fiddlers On The Roof” upon it.

April 4, 2025 at 1:28 pm #278695Just arrived home from the salt mines and this thread looks deader than a door nail. Cards go down 1-2-3 in the top of inning #1.
April 4, 2025 at 1:30 pm #278696Duran Duran laces a leadoff single to center vs Fedde. Then he promptly swipes 2nd……Cardinals now 0-6 at nailing runners attempting steals……somebody please verify that stat por favor. Then Fedde walks Devers, setting the table for Bregman’s first Fenway plate appearance for the home team……and Bregman doubles in a run and this is NOT the way you want to start a ballgame. Story with a monstrous 3 run bomb over the Green Monster in left making it 4-0….ouch!
April 4, 2025 at 1:41 pm #2786975-0 Boston
Glad I can’t watch anymore.
April 4, 2025 at 1:42 pm #278698Well this game is over quick. At least I don’t have to sit around and waste the afternoon in front of the tube. I will get and do things. Thanks Fedde – I can get an early start on the weekend projects.
April 4, 2025 at 1:43 pm #278699Yeah that Abreu bomb to right will send your PBP host to the showers too…..I’m out of here! I was so looking forward to spending the afternoon calling the action for the first time in 2025…..and then Mr. Fedde came along…..I’m Fed up with the guy already!
April 4, 2025 at 1:45 pm #278700Maybe Fedde can settle in…
April 4, 2025 at 2:21 pm #278702Lol! 3 run homer by Ivan makes it 6-4.
April 4, 2025 at 2:22 pm #278703Oh boy, another tater for Herrera! This one a 3 run variety to make this a ballgame.
April 4, 2025 at 2:32 pm #278704Oh man, just got back from Lowe’s and see that 6-4 score. Now I need to waste time watching the game instead of being productive. I might still be somewhat productive and listen to John and Rick on the KMOX broadcast though while multi-tasking.
April 4, 2025 at 2:38 pm #278705Solo tater from Donovan narrows the gap to 1 run!
