Also BS Southeast and Southwest ExtraIt’s been another disappointing season for Redbird fans but, things could certainly be a little bit worse…The White Sox have lost 113 games and with 16 games still remaining on their schedule, there’s a very good chance that they will eclipse the modern record of 120 losses set by the 1962 NY, Mets. Everyone remembers “Marvelous” Marv Thorneberry, but the 1962 Mets were a team that also had 3 future HOFer’s named, Casey Stengel, Gil Hodges and Richie Ashburn.
Thanks for reminding us Brian. Just 7 years after their “Amazin” season, they became the miracle Mets, beating the great Baltimore team 4-1 in 1969.

I thought the A’s would be worse. Another thought, the Angels were 100 games under with Albert and all the rest of that talent they hired. The Cardinals are at a crossroad. Clearly there’s more to it than just throwing money at players. Which we aren’t going to do anyway. It’s time to give Mo credit for giving us a winning program over his tenure. But the game has changed and he hasn’t changed with it. These decisions we make now will dictate the future of the Cardinals for the next decade. If Bill is all in on Bloom, lets hope he is the right guy for the job.

I disagree with this, I think, although it might be just stating it different. The game hasn’t changed that much. What has changed, evolved really, is the science and technology in use by organizations, and the ways in which the science and technology associated with analytics, biomechanics and whatever else is integrated into all aspects of how a system operates. I think Mo and his inner circle got ran over by it.
If the game hadn’t changed Bling, Mo would still be a good pobo. But you said it so much more eloqently, and I admire the effort.
In watching the game on Bally last night I was stuck with the Red’s announcers and they had quite a bit to say about Walker and what a mechanical mess his swing is.
Last week, Jim Edmonds also commented on the issues Walker’s open stance caused him with sliders away – and you can see him swing and miss at this pitch every single at bat he takes because – as big as he is – mechanically he cannot cover that pitch with his current hitting approach.
It sure looks like the Cardinals have made a complete mess of Walker at the plate and I don’t think trying to convert him to an outfielder at the major league level last year helped either.
He’s just not a good outfielder – I’m not sure he’s even an average one and may never be ….
Yep, I have said for awhile now that Walker’s stance and swing do not look like they will translate to success at the major league level. He is off balance and lunges. If he gets a pitch in his wheelhouse he can launch it due to the leverage he possesses, but he’s really not at all able to put power onto pitches on the outer half nor down in the zone. He needs to balance out more on the left leg and close his stance a bit. You want to generate power to the barrel of the bat, but he depends totally on leverage.
On another note, why are they even starting Lynn at this point? We should be starting McGreevy and Greceffo every five days the rest of the way. This organization is as messed up and Walker’s hitting approach.

I blame the player as he doesn’t seem to be good at anything he does at this level except look pretty when he does hit a home run.
Oh and yeah right on Lynn. We’ll be lucky to get 5 IP 4 ER out of him. How many have the reds taken from us recently?

CF M. Siani LI hope and pray whoever is the manager next year that they know at least a little bit about lineup construction. Obviously Marmol has proved over and over again he doesn’t.
And I will get to watch the game tonight. Last night I had to watch the big debate so I was switching back and forth. Won’t have to worry about that tonight.
Rat I am not sure what kind of a lineup you think can be constructed with the roster we have. We do not have a good leadoff hitter, we have no good #2 hitter vs lefties, we have no middle of the order power, and the down in the order hitters are down in the order hitters. Shuffling that around is not going to matter.

Walker flied out to right there in the second. I take it he got an outside pitch off the end of the bat. Probably a can o corn.

I don’t care how many 9th inning doubles in the month of September he hits. Goldy should not be on this team next year. (Yes I know it was the 8th.)
Team really needs to find some offense via trade or FA next year. I believe trade will be the route they end up going but I don’t think it’s enough with what they expect back even if they do bring someone into the fold. Unless you get something out of people who have floundered this year. Assuming those people are still around and what talent has shown out this year.
