ParticipantWeaver up Mayers down.
July 3, 2017 at 2:41 pm #26482So much for them trying to improve their defense, Carp at 2nd is a joke
July 3, 2017 at 2:44 pm #26483Well our offense has been a joke most of this year as well so I don’t mind them trying to get more bats in the lineup.
July 3, 2017 at 3:29 pm #26494our offense in the last month has been pretty impressive
Carp will have to shake some rust off at 2b…but we arent putting him there forever…this is probably a few days this week before wong comes back after the AS break…he played there 40 games last year and had 4 errors..1 every 10 games is serviceable…his range is great but he’ll do the routine things…
ill take a couple lost grounders only Wong can get plus the upside of Voit’s offense over the defense of Garcia and his weak bat… at least right now…for a week or so…
question is…what happens if he keeps hitting and Voit takes off, then Wong comes back? Good problems to have, but will be interesting to see how it all works out…
this week might be a bigger testo f Voit at 1b and his bat playing more than it is about Carp playing 2b…

stlcard25ParticipantThis is a very winnable game…and one we need to get if we want a shot at .500 by the AS break.
July 3, 2017 at 6:51 pm #26509
stlcard25ParticipantGood start for the offense…4-0 after 1. Lots of hits off Locke…you’ve gotta figure the team can hit a lefty pretty well with this lineup.
July 3, 2017 at 7:10 pm #26510
stlcard25ParticipantWaino with a good start so far too…6 strikeouts and no runs through 3. Would be nice to have him be consistently decent.
July 3, 2017 at 7:21 pm #26511I think it’s more of trying to get Voit more of a look and a lineup without Wong and Fowler little more offense. Carpenter has been awful against lefties this year but he’s got to play with the guys we’ve got out.
July 3, 2017 at 7:37 pm #2651210-0 now.
I think this one is in the bag. Unless Rosenthal pitches.

July 3, 2017 at 7:46 pm #26514Nice to have a yawner. Wainwright seems like he’s got them off balance on many of his pitches tonight.
July 3, 2017 at 7:56 pm #26515Great start. Close this out and get after them again tomorrow.
July 3, 2017 at 8:02 pm #26516Waino Lucky Stanton didn’t go yard on that meatball.
Can Waino keep his ERA under 5? Stay tuned!
July 3, 2017 at 8:04 pm #26517So much for the Waino is out of his funk crowd. lol!
July 3, 2017 at 8:05 pm #26518
stlcard25ParticipantSheesh, time to pull Waino. Can’t let the Marlins back in the game.
July 3, 2017 at 8:09 pm #26519Well spoke too soon.
July 3, 2017 at 8:18 pm #26520We’ll be lucky to hang on and win this one. If it gets close Rosenberg will probably come into the game and then who knows what will happen.

July 3, 2017 at 8:22 pm #26522What a fan
July 3, 2017 at 8:27 pm #26523Welcome back to STL Weaver. You fit right in.
July 3, 2017 at 8:45 pm #26524A 5-run lead is big…except it doesn’t seem that way when it was 11. We got this though. Lyons has the breaker really moving. Maybe not tonight, but there are some games I’d like to see Matheny use Lyons for more than an inning in a setup role when he looks sharp his first inning.
July 3, 2017 at 9:13 pm #26525Pham continues to be a spark. He increased his OPS to .891 after his last RBI-single.
July 3, 2017 at 9:39 pm #26526
stlcard25ParticipantLuke Voit with his first career MLB dinger. Where is bccran at to celebrate??
July 3, 2017 at 9:57 pm #26527He did hit the crap out of that. I was happy for him.
July 3, 2017 at 10:06 pm #26528Nice work boys!
Keep it up tomorrow!
Go Cards!
