The St. Louis Cardinals system went 2-4 on Saturday. The Cardinal Nation’s Player of the Day, Palm Beach starter Chen-Wei Lin, allowed one run in five innings on three hits and no walks with seven strikeouts. Other standouts include Nick Dunn, Graysen Tarlow, Kade Kretzschmar, Benjamin Arias and Ronny Oliver.

The Memphis Redbirds (3-2) bullpen blew a late lead to lose 3-2 to the Gwinnett Stripers (2-3, ATL) on Saturday at Coolray Field. In his second Triple-A start, Ian Bedell threw 4 2/3 innings, allowing two runs on four hits while walking six and striking out four.
Bedell had a rough first inning, allowing a leadoff homer to left field on a 2-0 count.
The Redbirds scored two to take the lead in the second with RBI singles from Arquímedes Gamboa and Victor Scott II.

The Stripers tied the game in the bottom half of the inning with an RBI double.
Nick Dunn’s two-run blast in the seventh briefly gave Memphis a two-run lead.

Conner Thomas relieved Bedell in the fifth, and in the eighth, the lefty yielded an RBI single. Chris Roycroft took the mound in the ninth and gave up a walk-off two-run double.
Thomas threw 3 1/3 innings, yielding one run on four hits while striking out one. Roycroft took his first loss this season, throwing 1/3 of an inning, and giving up two runs on two hits while walking two and striking out one. Memphis allowed five runs on 10 hits while walking eight and striking out six.
Dunn went 2-for-4 with a homer, two RBI, and a run scored. Jared Young hit 2-for-3 with a double and a walk. Gamboa was 1-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored. The Redbirds totaled four runs on 11 hits with a walk and eight strikeouts.
Sunday’s game: at Gwinnett, RHP Adam Kloffenstein (4-5, 4.32) vs. LHP Allan Winans (4-3, 2.88) 12:05 CT.
The Springfield Cardinals (1-4) were crushed by the Arkansas Travelers (4-1, SEA) 7-2 on Saturday at Hammons Field. Starter Alex Cornwell took his second loss this season, throwing just 2/3 of an inning, and allowing five runs on four hits while walking one and striking out one.
Arkansas struck quickly in the first with a two-RBI double, an RBI double, and another two-RBI double.
The Cardinals earned one back in the sixth with rehabbing St. Louis outfielder Lars Nootbaar’s solo longball to right field.

Springfield added one more in the seventh with Mike Antico’s RBI single.
The Travelers took those two runs back in the eighth with back-to-back solo homers against Andrew Marrero to make the score 7-2.
Benito Garcia threw 5 1/3 scoreless innings, allowing one hit and one walk while striking out three. Marrero tossed two innings, yielding two runs on two hits while walking one and striking out one. Matt Svanson took the ninth, giving up two hits while striking out one. Springfield allowed seven runs on nine hits while walking three and striking out six.
Nootbaar was 2-for-3 with a home run, an RBI, and a run scored. Antico went 1-for-4 with a walk and an RBI. R.J. Yeager was 1-for-4 with a double. The Cardinals totaled two runs on nine hits with three walks and six strikeouts while hitting 2-for-11 with runners in scoring position and stranding nine men on base.

The Peoria Chiefs (3-5) were trampled by the Quad Cities River Bandits (4-4, KCR) 11-2 on Saturday at Dozer Park. Starter Brycen Mautz took his ninth loss this season, pitching five innings, and allowing six runs, five earned, on eight hits while walking two and striking out six.
Quad Cities struck first with an RBI single in the first. They extended their lead with an RBI double and an RBI single in the second. The River Bandits added three more in the fifth with a two-RBI triple and an RBI single.
Gustavo Rodriguez took over the mound in the sixth, allowing an RBI single, a sacrifice fly, and another RBI single, which extended the visitors’ lead to 8-0.
The Chiefs finally got on the board in the seventh with Graysen Tarlow’s two-RBI single.

Zane Mills took the mound for the ninth and yielded two runs, one when second basemen Darlin Moquete made a fielding error and another on an RBI single.
Rodriguez threw three innings, giving up three runs on five hits while striking out four. Mills pitched an inning, yielding two runs, none earned, on one hit while walking two and striking out one. The Chiefs allowed 11 runs, eight earned, on 14 hits while walking two and striking out 11.
Tarlow was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI. Joshua Baez went 2-for-4 with a run scored. Michael Curialle took three walks and scored a run. The Chiefs totaled two runs on five hits with five walks and eight strikeouts.

The Palm Beach Cardinals (4-3) beat the St. Lucie Mets (2-6, NYM) 5-1 on Saturday at Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium. Starter Chen-Wei Lin earned his fifth win this season, throwing five innings, and allowing one run on three hits and no walks while striking out seven.
The Mets scored first with an RBI single in the top of the second.
The Cardinals responded in the bottom half of the inning with Brayden Jobert’s sacrifice fly and Trey Paige’s bases-loaded walk. Lizandro Espinoza’s RBI single in the sixth added an insurance run for the home team. In the seventh, Palm Beach added two more runs with Sammy Hernandez’s bases-loaded walk and Jose Cordoba’s sacrifice fly.
Clean up hitter Kade Kretzschmar reached base all four times up with two singles, two walks and a run scored. Hernandez was 1-for-3 with a walk, an RBI, and a run scored. Cordoba was 1-for-2 with a walk, an RBI, and a run scored. The Cardinals totaled five runs on seven hits with eight walks and eight strikeouts.
Benjamin Arias earned his second save this season, pitching four scoreless innings of relief, yielding a hit and a walk while striking out five. Palm Beach gave up one run on four hits while walking one and striking out 12.
Sunday’s game: vs. St. Lucie, RHP Hunter Kublick (1-0, 3.52) vs. Franklin Gomez LHP (2-4, 3.95) 11:00 CT.
FCL Cardinals 7, FCL Nationals 6
The Florida Complex League Cardinals (15-24) won their first one-run game this season, defeating the FCL Nationals (17-21, WSH) by a score of 7-6 on Saturday at Roger Dean Stadium Complex. Ronny Oliver threw four no-hit innings, yielding a walk while striking out five.
Felix Taveras scored on a wild pitch in the second and Yancel Guerrero followed that up with a two-run bomb to left field to give the Cardinals a 3-0 lead.
Taveras’ RBI groundout in the third extended the Cards’ lead to 4-0.
Samil De La Rosa’s two-run homer to left field made the score 6-0 in the fifth.
Yordy Herrera took over the mound in the fifth, and in the sixth, he allowed an RBI double and a two-RBI single.
Arfeni Batista’s solo shot to left in the sixth extended the Cards’ lead to 7-3.
Jovi Galvez came into the game in the eighth and yielded three runs on three wild pitches.
Victor Villanueva threw a scoreless inning to receive his first win this season. Samuel Fabian earned his first save this season, throwing 1 1/3 innings, and yielding one hit while striking out one. Herrera pitched two innings, giving up three runs on three hits while walking two and striking out five. The Cardinals allowed six runs, three earned, on five hits while walking five and striking out 13.
De La Rosa went 1-for-3 with a homer, a walk, two RBI, and two runs scored. Guerrero was 2-for-4 with a home run, two RBI, and a run scored. Jonathan Mejia was 2-for-3 with a double, a walk, and a run scored. The Cardinals totaled seven runs on eight hits with four walks and nine strikeouts.
The FCL Cardinals are off Sundays.

DSL Cardinals 6 at DSL White Sox 7 (10 innings)
The Dominican Cardinals (9-11) lost a close one to the DSL White Sox (5-14, CWS) in extras by a score of 7-6 on Saturday at the Chicago White Sox DR Complex. Starter Oliver Gonzalez threw 3 2/3 innings, allowing one run on four hits while walking one and striking out five.
The White Sox struck first with an RBI single in the second.
The Cardinals responded in the third when Andru Arthur came home after a balk and Yairo Padilla scored when Facundo Velasquez reached on a fielding error.
An RBI groundout in the fifth against Cards reliever Alan Reyes tied the game at two apiece.
Velasquez’ solo blast in the sixth gave the Cardinals a 3-2 lead and Cristofer Lebron’s two-RBI single in the seventh extended the edge to 5-2. Juan Pablo Cabrera crossed the plate on a passed ball in the top of the ninth to add another insurance run.
Giovanni Vargas was brought in for the ninth to protect a four-run lead and close out the game, but he failed. After a two-RBI single ended his day on the mound, Guanchi Martinez gave up another two-RBI single that scored both runners inherited from Vargas.
The White Sox walked it off in the 10th with an RBI single against Martinez.
Martinez threw 1 1/3 innings, yielding one run, none earned, on two hits while walking one and striking out one to take his second loss this season. Reiner Lopez threw a scoreless inning, allowing a hit and a walk. Jesus Garcia pitched a scoreless inning, giving up one hit. The Cardinals allowed seven runs, five earned, on 10 hits while walking six and striking out nine.
Padilla went 2-for-5 with a run scored. Velasquez was 1-for-5 with a homer, an RBI, and a run scored. Paulo Asprilla was 2-for-3 with a walk and a run scored. Lebron plated two. The Cardinals totaled six runs on eight hits with a walk and 15 strikeouts.
The DSL Cardinals are off Sundays.
