The Memphis Redbirds (2-1) shut out the Gwinnett Stripers (1-2, ATL) 4-0 on Thursday at Coolray Field. Starter Michael McGreevy earned his fourth win this season, throwing seven scoreless innings, and allowing three hits while striking out eight.
The Redbirds took an early lead in the third with a two-RBI single from Jordan Walker.

Walker went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI. Victor Scott II was 2-for-4 with a run scored. Saggese hit 1-for-4 with a triple, an RBI, and a run scored. The Redbirds totaled four runs on eight hits with a walk and four strikeouts.
Jacob Bosiokovic pitched two scoreless innings, yielding a hit while striking out three. Memphis allowed no runs on four hits while walking none and striking out 11.

The Springfield Cardinals (1-2) were defeated by the Arkansas Travelers (2-1, SEA) 7-2 on Thursday at Hammons Field. Starter Trent Baker took his sixth loss this season, pitching five innings, and allowing three runs on four hits while walking one and striking out two.
The Travelers struck first in the second with an RBI single and an RBI triple.
Arkansas extended their lead in the top of the third with an RBI double.
The Cardinals responded with a Dakota Harris sacrifice fly and a Jeremy Rivas RBI forceout.

Andrew Marrero took over the mound in the ninth and allowed a run to score on a wild pitch, an RBI single, a sacrifice fly, and another RBI single to give the Travelers a 7-2 lead.
Brandon Komar threw three scoreless innings, yielding two hits while striking out three. Marrero pitched an inning, giving up four runs on three hits while walking two. Springfield allowed seven runs on nine hits while walking three and striking out five.
Dakota Harris was 1-for-2 with an RBI. Luis Rodriguez went 1-for-2 with a double and a run scored. Aaron McKeithan hit 1-for-3 with a run scored. The Cardinals totaled two runs on seven hits with four strikeouts.

Note that St. Louis outfielder Lars Nootbaar is scheduled to begin his minor league rehab with Springfield on Friday evenings.
The Peoria Chiefs (3-3) dominated the Quad Cities River Bandits (2-4, KCR) 8-3 on Thursday at Dozer Park. Starter Darlin Saladin earned his first win in High-A baseball this season, throwing five scoreless innings, and allowing one run on three hits while walking two and striking out eight.
The River Bandits struck first in the top of the first with an RBI single. The Chiefs responded in the bottom of the first with a Won-Bin Cho sacrifice bunt that forced a throwing error, allowing Brody Moore to come home.

Chris Rotondo’s RBI single and Darlin Moquete’s two-run moonshot to left-center field gave the Chiefs a 6-1 lead.

Quad Cities earned two back in the top of the eighth with an RBI double and a wild pitch from reliever Gustavo Rodriguez, allowing another runner to score.
Joshua Baez reached on a fielding error that allowed Moquete and William Sullivan to cross the plate in the bottom of the eighth.

Moquete went 2-for-3 with a home run, a walk, two RBI, and three runs scored. Curialle was 2-for-4 with a homer, two RBI, and a run scored. Leonardo Bernal hit 3-for-4 with a run scored. The Chiefs totaled eight runs on 10 hits with four walks and seven strikeouts.
Nathanael Heredia threw two scoreless innings, allowing a walk while striking out three. Rodriguez pitched 2/3 of an inning, yielding two runs on three hits while walking one. Osvaldo Berrios earned his second save this season, throwing 1 1/3 scoreless innings, and giving up two hits and a walk. Peoria allowed three runs on eight hits while walking five and striking out 11.

The Palm Beach Cardinals (3-2) lost to the St. Lucie Mets (1-5, NYM) 5-3 on Thursday at Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium. Starter Ixan Henderson took his second loss this season, pitching 5 2/3 innings, and allowing four runs, two earned, on six hits while walking one and striking out eight.
The Mets struck first in the third with a solo shot to left field and a two-RBI double.
The Cardinals brought the game to within one in the fifth with Sammy Hernandez’s RBI single and Anyelo Encarnacion’s RBI single.
A bases-loaded walk in the sixth gave St. Lucie a 4-2 lead and ended Henderson’s day on the mound.
Encarnacion grounded into a double play in the seventh, allowing Chase Davis to score.
Ettore Giulianelli came into the game in the eighth, and in the ninth, he yielded a solo homer to the first batter of the inning.
Angel Cuenca threw 1 1/3 scoreless innings while striking out one. Giulianelli threw two innings, giving up one run on one hit while walking one. Palm Beach allowed five runs, three earned, on seven hits while walking two and striking out nine.
Kade Kretzschmar was 2-for-3 with two walks and a run scored. Hernandez hit 1-for-4 with a walk and an RBI. Encarnacion went 1-for-4 with an RBI. The Cardinals totaled three runs on five hits with eight walks and 14 strikeouts while stranding 11 men on base.

FCL Cardinals 10, FCL Nationals 11 (Game 1)
The FCL Cardinals (14- 23) were beaten by the FCL Nationals (16-19, WSH) 11-10 on Thursday at CACTI Park of the Palm Beaches Complex. Starter Leonel Sequera took his fifth loss this season, throwing two innings, and allowing seven runs, two earned, on four hits.
The Nationals took an early lead with a sacrifice fly in the first.
They extended their lead in the top of the second with a fielders choice and a throwing error by first basemen Miguel Vargas, a sacrifice fly, an RBI single, and a three-run longball to left field.
The Cardinals fought back in the bottom of the second with Yancel Guerrero’s two-RBI triple and Vargas’s sacrifice fly.
They continued to bring the game within one in the third when a double steal allowed Yaisel Ramos to steal home and a two-run blast to right field by Luis Pino made the score 7-6.
Reliever Alexander Beltre yielded a bases-loaded walk in the top of the sixth, giving the Nationals an extra insurance run.
The Cardinals pulled off another double steal with Luis Pino stealing home this time to make the score 8-7.
Two RBI singles in the top of the seventh gave the Nationals a 10-7 lead.
Yordalin Pena’s RBI single in the bottom of the seventh and Samil De La Rosa grounding into a double play that allowed Vargas to score made it a one-run game again.
An RBI single in the top of the ninth gave the Nationals another insurance run.
The Cardinals continued to trade runs with Pena’s RBI groundout, but they could not tie the game in the bottom of the ninth.
Pino went 1-for-3 with a homer, two walks, two RBI, and two runs scored. Jose Suarez hit 3-for-5 with two runs scored. Guerrero was 1-for-3 with a triple, two RBI, and a run scored. The Cardinals totaled 10 runs on 10 hits with five walks and nine strikeouts.
Juan Severino threw 3 2/3 innings, allowing one run on two hits while walking two and striking out two. Antoni Cuello pitched an inning, yielding two runs on five hits while striking out one. Omar Yanez pitched two innings, giving up one run on two hits while walking two and striking out three. The Cardinals allowed 11 runs, six earned, on 13 hits while walking six, hitting four batters, and striking out six.
FCL Cardinals 3 at FCL Nationals 4 (Game 2, eight innings)
The FCL Cardinals (14-24) lost another one-run game to the FCL Nationals (17-19, WSH) 4-3 on Thursday at CACTI Park of the Palm Beaches Complex. Starter Nelfy Ynfante threw 4 2/3 innings, allowing two runs, none earned, on three hits while walking two and striking out three.
The Cardinals struck first in the top of the first with Jose Suarez’s RBI groundout and Felix Taveras’s RBI single.
A wild pitch from Ynfante allowed a runner to score in the bottom of the first.
An RBI single from the Nationals in the fifth tied the game at two apiece.
The Cardinals regained the lead in the sixth with Romtres Cabrera’s sacrifice fly.
Wilmer Ortega took over the mound in the seventh and allowed an RBI single that tied the game at three apiece. In the eighth, he allowed a walk-off double to the first batter he faced.
Randel Clemente threw 1 1/3 scoreless innings, yielding a hit while striking out one. Ortega took his second loss this season, pitching one inning, and giving up two runs, one earned, on four hits while striking out three. The Cardinals allowed four runs, one earned, on eight hits while walking two and striking out seven.
Samil De La Rosa was 2-for-4 with a run scored. Suarez hit 1-for-4 with a triple, an RBI, and a run scored. Taveras went 1-for-4 with a triple and an RBI. The Cardinals totaled three runs on five hits with a walk and eight strikeouts.
The FCL Cardinals are off Friday.

DSL Cardinals 5, DSL Colorado 6
The DSL Cardinals (9-9) fell to the DSL Colorado (9-9, COL) by a score of 6-5 on Thursday at the St. Louis Cardinals DR Complex. Starter Branneli Franco threw four scoreless innings, allowing three hits while striking out four.
The Cardinals struck first in the fifth with Fernando Roquez’s solo shot to right-center field.
Colorado tied it in the seventh with an RBI forceout.
Colorado took the lead with a sacrifice bunt and a throwing error from reliever Kener Perez that allowed a run to score, two RBI singles, and a two-RBI single.
A Brayan Amoroso two-RBI single and Christian Saez scoring on a fielding error on a ball hit by Cristofer Lebron brought the game to within two in the eighth.
Edward Guribe’s sacrifice fly in the ninth was not enough to catch Colorado.
Guribe hit 2-for-4 with a double, an RBI, and a run scored. Roquez went 2-for-4 with a homer, an RBI, and a run scored. Rainiel Rodriguez was 3-for-5 with a triple and scored twice. The Cardinals totaled five runs on eight hits with five walks and 11 strikeouts.
Bernard Mack threw three innings, yielding a run on two hits while walking and striking out two. Perez took his third loss this season, pitching two innings, and giving up five runs, four earned, on six hits while striking out two. The Cardinals allowed six runs, five earned, on 11 hits while walking two and striking out eight.
