The St. Louis Cardinals system went 4-2 on Saturday. The Cardinal Nation’s Player of the Day, Memphis LH Zack Thompson, tossed five scoreless innings with six strikeouts. Other standouts include Luken Baker, Max Rajcic, Jacob Buchberger, Hancel Rincon, Darlin Moquete and Nelfy Ynfante.

The Memphis Redbirds (32-30) shut out the Omaha Storm Chasers (42-18, KCR) 6-0 on Saturday at Werner Park. Starter Zack Thompson earned his second win this season, throwing five scoreless innings, and allowing five hits and one walk while striking out six.

Memphis doubled their lead in the eighth with Saggese’s RBI single and César Prieto’s two-RBI double.

Baker was 2-for-3 with a homer, a walk, two RBI, and two runs scored. Saggese was 1-for-3 with two RBI and a run scored. Prieto went 1-for-3 with a double and two RBI. The Redbirds totaled six runs on seven hits with a walk and nine strikeouts.
Rehabber Giovanny Gallegos threw a scoreless inning, striking out one. Jacob Bosiokovic, Kolton Ingram and Ryan Loutos each threw a scoreless inning, yielding a combined two hits and one walk while striking out two. Memphis allowed no runs on seven hits while walking two and striking out nine.
Sunday’s game: at Omaha, RHP Michael McGreevy (2-6, 5.54) vs. Kris Bubic LHP (0-0, 0.00) 5:05 CT.
The Springfield Cardinals (33-23) beat the Arkansas Travelers (31-24, SEA) 8-3 on Saturday at Dickey-Stephens Park. Starter Max Rajcic earned his fourth win this season, throwing seven innings and allowing two runs on four hits while walking one and striking out five.

The Cardinals took an early lead in the top of the first with Matt Lloyd’s RBI single, Jimmy Crooks reached on an error that plated Mike Antico, and Noah Mendlinger grounded into a double play that allowed Nathan Church to score.

The Travelers earned one back in the bottom of the first with an RBI single.
Mendlinger plated Lloyd when he reached on a fielding error in the third and Chandler Redmond’s RBI groundout extended Springfield’s lead to 5-1.
Jacob Buchberger’s three-run moonshot in the fifth gave the Cardinals a seven-run lead.

Rajcic allowed a single and a walk to lead off the eighth which ended his night. Benito Garcia allowed a sacrifice fly. In the ninth, Garcia Gave up an RBI double to make the score 8-3.
Garcia threw two innings, allowing a run on three hits. Springfield gave up three runs on seven hits while walking one and striking out five.
Lloyd was 2-for-4 with a walk, a double, an RBI, and two runs scored. Crooks went 2-for-5 with a double and an RBI. Buchberger homered, walked, drove in three, and scored. The Cardinals totaled eight runs on 11 hits with four walks and seven strikeouts. Every Cardinals tallied at least one hit during Saturday’s matchup.
Sunday’s game: at Arkansas, RHP Ian Bedell (1-2, 5.59) vs. Danny Wirchansky LHP 1:35 CT.
On Saturday, the Peoria Chiefs (20-36) decimated the Fort Wayne Tin Caps (24-32, SDP) at Parkview Field. Starter Hancel Rincon earned his third win this season, throwing 5 1/3 innings, and yielding no runs on six hits while walking one and striking out five.
The Chiefs struck first in the second with Dakota Harris’s two-RBI single, Darlin Moquete’s two-run blast to left, and Brody Moore’s RBI single.
Chris Rotondo led off the third with a solo shot to left center. Moquete added his third RBI of the day with an RBI single.
Harris and Zach Levenson walked with the bases loaded in the fifth and Alex Iadisernia grounded into an RBI forceout to give the Chiefs a 10-0 lead.
Michael Curriale’s RBI single, Harris’s RBI single, and Moquete’s RBI forceout in the top of the eighth extended the Peoria lead to 13-0.
The Tin Caps finally scored in the bottom of the eighth with two RBI singles against Roy Garcia.
Garcia threw two innings, allowing two runs, one earned, on two hits while walking one and striking out one. Gustavo Rodriguez tossed 1 2/3 innings, giving up no runs on one hit while striking out four. Peoria allowed two runs, one earned, on nine hits while walking two and striking out 11.
Harris went 3-for-3 with a walk, three RBI, and two runs scored. Rotondo was 2-for-2 with a homer, three walks, an RBI, and four runs scored. Moquete was 2-for-4 with a home run, a walk, four RBI, and a run scored. The Chiefs totaled 13 runs on 13 hits with nine walks and strikeouts.
Sunday’s game: at Fort Wayne, LHP Brycen Mautz (0-6, 5.48) vs. Braden Nett RHP (0-0, 10.80) 12:05 CT.
The Palm Beach Cardinals (32-24) were defeated 3-1 by the Dunedin Blue Jays (28-28, TOR) on Saturday at Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium. Starter Chen-Wei Lin took his fourth loss this season, allowing three runs on six hits while walking one and striking out six in five innings.
The Cardinals took an early lead in the second when Johnfrank Salazar’s RBI double scored Brayden Jobert.
The Blue Jays responded in the third with a three-RBI double to score the game’s final runs.
Benjamin Arias threw three innings, giving up no runs on three hits while walking one and striking out three. Angel Cuenca pitched a scoreless inning, giving up no hits and no walks while striking out two. Palm Beach allowed three runs on nine hits while walking two and striking out 11.
Miguel Villarroel was 3-for-3 with a walk. Salazar was 1-for-3 with a double and an RBI. The Cardinals totaled one run on five hits with three walks and seven strikeouts while hitting 1-for-5 with runners in scoring position.

FCL Cardinals 5 at FCL Nationals 0
The Florida Complex League Cardinals (12-15) shut out the FCL Nationals (11-14, WAS) 5-0 on Saturday at CACTI Park of the Palm Beaches Complex. Starter Nelfy Ynfante earned his third win this season, throwing five scoreless innings, allowing three hits and one walk while striking out seven.
Alejandro Loaiza’s two-run bomb to left in the third inning gave the Cardinals an early 2-0 lead. Travis Honeyman’s RBI single in the fifth added a run.
Honeyman’s RBI double in the seventh plated Yancel Guerrero, increasing their lead to 4-0.
The Cardinals added a final insurance run in the ninth inning on Miguel Vargas’ RBI single.
Honeyman was 3-for-4 including a double and RBI. Vargas was 3-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored. Loaiza went 1-for-3, a homer, with a walk, an RBI, and a run scored. The Cardinals totaled five runs on 10 hits with one walk and eight strikeouts.
Samuel Fabian threw two scoreless innings, allowing one hit while striking out two. Randel Clemente pitched two scoreless innings, yielding a walk while striking out three. The Cardinals gave up no runs on four hits while walking two and striking out 12.

DSL Cardinals 3, DSL Nationals 10 (seven innings)
The Dominican Summer League Cardinals (2-1) were crushed by the DSL Nationals (2-2, WAS) 10-3 on Saturday at the St. Louis Cardinals DR Complex. Starter Branneli Franco took his first loss this season throwing 1 2/3 innings, allowing four runs on four hits while walking one and striking out four.
The Cardinals struck in the first when Rainiel Rodriguez tripled and later scored on a wild pitch.
The Nationals responded in the top of the second with a three-run homer and an RBI groundout.
In the home second, Yairo Padilla and Bracewall Taveras walked with the bases loaded to make the score 4-3.
A two-RBI double, an RBI fielder’s choice, and an RBI double against relief pitcher Jesus Garcia in the sixth broke open the game for the Nationals as they took a five-run lead. An RBI single and an error from third basemen Danny Rojas allowed another runner to score while Brailyn Paulino increased the Nationals’ lead to 10-3 in the seventh.
Andrew Bolivar threw 2 1/3 innings, yielding no runs on one hit while walking four and striking out two. Garcia pitched an inning, giving up four runs, three earned, on three hits while striking out one. Paulino allowed two runs, one earned, on one hit while walking two and striking out one. The Cardinals gave up 10 runs, eight earned, on 10 hits while walking 11 and striking out eight.
Rodriguez went 2-for-4 with a triple and a run scored. Fernando Roquez hit 2-for-4 with a double and scored once. The Cardinals totaled three runs on four hits with four walks and 10 strikeouts.
