ParticipantHas anyone seen the final schedule for Winter Warm Up? Not just the autograph signings, but also the main stage appearances and breakout room schedules? Would like to attend when Mo is on the main stage and Gary
LaRocque does his thing in a breakout room. Hope Gary leaves more time for questions at the end of his presentation this year.January 8, 2024 at 9:11 am #241020Holding those sessions in the noisy and crowded Bally Sports Live lobby made for a poorer presentation all around. I wish they would change that for 2024, but the area (BPV and Busch Stadium) lacks the ballrooms available when WWU was held in the Hyatt.

ParticipantI liked it much better at the Hyatt too. Have you seen when Gary’s session is going to take place?

ParticipantBrian – Is the schedule out for main stage presentations and breakout sessions? Would like to see Mo’s Q&A on the main stage and Gary Larocque’s breakout session. Thanks.
January 10, 2024 at 12:11 pm #241192bccran, if you keep checking the event’s website, you will probably see the detailed schedule before I do. I do not have an advance copy and am not pushing for it because I will be there all weekend anyway.

ParticipantSince I live in the St. Louis area, I normally just go on the day that Mo is on the main stage and Gary has his session. Usually on the first day. The Winter Warm Up website still doesn’t have the schedule posted.

ParticipantThey just posted it, Brian. Mo has a Q&A at 11:20am on the main stage on Saturday. Gary no longer has his own breakout session. He’s on the main stage on Sunday morning at 10:00am for an hour with Girsch, Flores, and Moises Rodriguez. Think I’ll take a pass this year.
January 10, 2024 at 1:18 pm #241198No scouting breakout with Flores, either. Disappointing.

ParticipantThey seem to be watering it down.
January 10, 2024 at 3:01 pm #241202I’m not at all sure it’s possible to water down a $40 fee for the current Cardinal manager’s autograph…It’s my view that anyone who would consider such an inane purchase should be carefully evaluated for lucidity and soundness of mind.

ParticipantIt goes for charity, 1tough.
January 10, 2024 at 3:47 pm #241210I was aware that that’s what they claim. Someone should check their books and if people want to be charitable, they’ll keep their distance from him…
January 10, 2024 at 5:13 pm #241221bccran
ParticipantSuggest you do some research and find out all the Cardinals do for the community through charity work. You might be surprised, on top of becoming educated about it.
January 10, 2024 at 6:42 pm #241228Thanks for the tout. I did a little looking and the best I can tell is that the Cardinals and their charitable organization known as Cardinals Care are the only team in the Big Leagues that charges it’s own charity hundreds of thousands of dollars for the use of office space and utilities. Some may consider that sort of thing to be benevolence, but that’s what I’d term to be ruthless business practices…

Participant1tough –
Seriously, look at the Cardinal Care website and see all the good things they do in the community. It’s pretty neat and wide spread.
January 13, 2024 at 9:06 am #24138030 minutes before opening of #STLCards Winter Warm-Up, hardy fans were lined up. Some huddled for warmth in the team offices lobby. pic.twitter.com/ml21JOMvKz

January 13, 2024 at 9:39 am #241382It seems like the event is less about giving fans a bit of access and an inside look. I look forward to hearing what there is to hear from Brian and whoever else attends.
Does anyone know anything about the caravans now days.
January 13, 2024 at 11:57 am #241403The first draft of my Saturday post from #stlcards Winter Warm-Up is live. January 13, 2024 at 12:18 pm #241405There are six Caravans that started on Friday. Who is on which one and which cities they are stopping in is posted on the team site. They either start on the road and then come to WWU or vice-versa.
January 13, 2024 at 1:03 pm #241408Caravan #4 being the alpha-caravan. Spring training mere weeks away.

January 14, 2024 at 11:38 am #241459Key takeaways for me are Mo has left the door open for more acqusitions this winter and that 2025 appears to be his final year as Cardinal PBO.
January 14, 2024 at 2:05 pm #241485Yeah, the things the club is doing shows indications of Mo stepping down in the near future. My sense is he planned on retiring after this season, but with the club finishing last he is sticking around a little longer in the hopes he can right the ship and go out on a better note.

The org could be seen as avoiding long term commitments as much as possible. That could be seen as ownership positioning to sell. Mo would be aware, of course, and would make sure his plans dovetail with ownersship’s.
Not saying that is what is happening. But if it were happening, minimizing long term commitments like we are seeing would be a smart move.
January 14, 2024 at 5:25 pm #241505Wouldn’t surprise me one bit if the team were to take on new ownership in the next 3 to 5 years. I’m way more than a little surprised that the present ownership isn’t currently clamoring for a new venue that’s at least 20 miles from the St. Louis city limits. At any rate, when Billy Jr.’s gone, the first thing his kid will do will be to cash out.
