We can call this series the Battle for the Basement.

Noot is in the lineup for Memphis Thursday night. 1-2 so far. I guess he’ll be back sometime this weekend. We will have to see if that’s the end for Palacios. If not, then maybe they are serious about him for next year’s bench.

I’ll miss most of this game. Friday night is the first home game for the Jasper Wildcats. They square off against a state power in the #2 ranked Evansville Reitz Panthers. Mostly like a loss for the Wildcats but one never knows.

And dinner on Friday will be a trip to the Lakeview restaurant, the amish restaurant north of town on the lake. Catfish fiddlers, mashed potatoes/gravy, green beans, noodles, dressing, sweet tea, some cherry cobbler, and vanilla soft serve ice cream. Yum yum!

“Try to remember the kind of September…Then follow, follow”…I’m guessing I may want to forget it.

My guess is this September is not going to be one to remember. Our best hope is to have the occasional exciting game like the last couple offered to us by Tommy Edmab & Co.

As I mentioned a couple of weeks ago, every team needs an abysmal season such as our Cardinals are experiencing, every 10-15 years, so to cleanse an organization( in all facets, not just players and coaches)of it’s dead weight. Even that perennially winning team the Dodgers had one of these seasons back in 2005, finishing 20 games below .500.

I’m setting the over/under of Keller K’s for tonight’s affair at an even-steven 10. In honor of Rat, I’m contemplating going out for catfish fiddlers tonight for din-din. However, I’m not finding any greater Madison area restaurants that serve the rascals. I just might have to venture on down to the great of Louisiana to indulge in a few of the fiddlers. As far as tonight’s Jasper-Evansville grudge match between Indiana high school powerhouses, I’m liking Jasper to pull off the mild upset with a 31-26 victory over the Panthers.

Goldschmidt 2nd is not ideal. But we don’t have a high OBP guy to hit at the top with Noot. Next year we will have Donovan, but how would he fit into the daily lineup?

Left field, second base, dh, first, third, right field. I think Tommy, O’Neil, Carlson are likely traded. Donovan becomes super utility. We would need a backup ss. Palacios can backup center With Victor Scott on the way. Donovan would have as many starts as anyone else.

Who did teams ask for last season, from us, in trade?

No significant trades during the last off-season that I’m aware of, but last season’s deadline saw Bader for Montgomery and Oviedo and Nunez for Quintana. Those are the two SP’ers acquired at last season’s deadline, but we also saw Sosa for JoJo.

    Ok
    Wait.
    Let me understand this..
    Woodford 5.67 era
    Rom 8.00 era
    Lawrence 4.97
    Barnes 8.10
    Suarez 7.16
    ————————————-
So out of these pure numbers
Woodford is the one to get screwed..!!
    Wow.
Something is very wrong in this organization.

Pittsburgh’s SP’er Kellar has accumulated a shade over 163 IP’ed this season prior to his 28th turn in tonight’s game. He’ll surpass Mikolas in workload if he can record 4 outs in tonight’s game. No other current Cardinal SP’er even comes close to that much work with Matz at 105 IP’ed behind Mikolas. Obviously the Redbirds need to find an arm or two that can work some innings.

If I recall, Oakland wanted Nootbaar, Donovan and Graceffo for Sean Murphy.

If you trade Carlson & O’Neil, he is your starting LF.

LA, I could live with that. But I think it would be wasting his defensive versatility, which is his outstanding attribute. I don’t know what else they would do for an left fielder though.

9th inning tied 1-1. We’ve had 6 hits and 4 walks. Only thing we got out of it all is a solo homer.

Here we go with extra innings that aren’t really extra innings which make about as much sense as this comment.

Didn’t get to watch but Hudson seems to be pitching well taking out last start before this. He finishes well, I think you have to pencil him in next year for at least a 4 spot in rotation. Health as always is a concern but with pitchers, most fit that.

During the month of Sept. Cards fans at the stadium need to disguise themselves as empty seats.
