(and Bally Sports South/Southwest Extra)Although it wasn’t against what could be termed an intimidating line-up, Jack put up a pretty good pitching line vs. DC. That’s good. Maybe another team will sacrifice a little something for him. He certainly doesn’t have any desire to remain in StL. I’d say to get him gone while the going’s good.
It seems like sustained success for a pitcher always comes down to three things. Consistently good controll, cosistently good defense behind you (and in front of you), staying healthy.
We need to get a haul for Flaherty.
What are the odds Liberatore still pans out? I just haven’t seen even flashes of greatness from him yet.
IMO he’s been fighting to keep his head above water since they jumped him over AA. His best chance might be a fresh start somewhere else. Now is the time to move him since he has an option year left.
Checking out the NL leaders board I noticed that there doesn’t seem to be too many hitters who strike genuine fear into opposing managers anymore. The player atop the leader board in IBB’s has only collected 8 of them so far this season and that leader is Arraez who only has 3 HR’s and a pedestrian 160 TB’s. In fact, the total accumulated IBB’s for the NL top 10 in IBB’s only adds up to 42 IBB’s which is 7 less than Pujols received in ’09. I always considered a lot of instances of a hitter being intentionally placed on 1B as a sure sign of an extremely dangerous and talented hitter who was always capable of doing irrepairable damage with one violent rip. And we all know what he did, but to me, the 120 IBB’s that Bonds received in ’04 far surpasses the astonishment value of the 73 HR’s he was credited with in ’01. At any rate, maybe there simply aren’t any NL hitters that take on the look of a genuine Godzilla type monster anymore.
I’m checking the Doppler Radar. It currently shows a band of showers that should be in the St. Louis area around 5-6 St. Louis time.
I’d say there’s a good chance this one gets delayed.
The weather looks okay in Cincinnati so I guess I will watch the Giants and Reds from Riverfront Stadium. Then later tonight the Yankees at Anaheim.

I think they once again figured out that he isn’t a great defensive catcher. A decision that is $87M too late but maybe he can be a good DH for us or backup Goldy at 1B.
I know it’s only just first pitch and it’s a Monday night, but looking at the camera shot panning the stands, my guess is 12.5K in the seats.
Yeah, that was a nice play to snag that baseball, Wooster. Not at all easy to see it hit directly over the top of his coconut while he’s running toward the wall in CF.
Yeah 1TD thats a tough catch for any outfielder. Takes a real outfielder to make that catch. Carlson must have been playing in.
