Naughton suffered a left forearm strain while pitching Friday evening.
The selection of Cabrera seemed logical, as evidenced by my Saturday morning assessment.
Candidates if #STLCards LHR Packy Naughton goes on IL. Genesis Cabrera is off to a nice start with Memphis. 3 1/3 innings, 1 H, 2 BB, 0 ER, 0 K. Could receive another chance. JoJo Romero: 1 clean IP, 2 Ks. Andrew Suarez also decent with 2 ER in 5 1/3 IP, but lacks a 40-man spot.

Cabrera also had a decent spring, with nine hits, no walks and seven strikeouts in seven innings. He yielded two runs for a 3.57 Florida ERA.
Cabrera joins Zack Thompson from the left side in the St. Louis bullpen.
