Also BSSO and BSSW+ABSOLUTELY need to win two of three this series against Miami. Especially considering after this Miami series we have 14 games with the Phillies, Braves, and Dodgers. 7-7 in those 14 games would be acceptable. Philadelphia might not be so daunting now that Harper is, unfortunately, out indefinitely.
And not to worry too much about the loss to the Cubs on Sunday. Its one game out of 162. Time to move on and regroup and take care of business against the Marlins. Which might not be so easy with their pitching.

#STLCards placed Harrison Bader (plantar fasciitis) on the 10-day IL & Jack Flaherty (shoulder stiffness) on the 15-day IL. Also, they have selected the contracts of OF Conner Capel and RHP James Naile from Memphis (AAA), per the club. Capel will wear 71 and Naile will wear 68.

Point of information:#stlcards had two spots open on the 40-man roster because lefties T. J. McFarland and Genesis Cabrera are both on the COVID-related 10-day IL. Thus, neither of them count against the 40-man or active roster.#Cardinals #MLB

This guy tonight and Alcantara on Wednesday are going to be tough. Gotta find a way to sneak a win in one of those two, plus win the middle game. Would be great to sweep, but as we know our team has a lot of games where the bats go silent. Seems to be a bit too much to ask for a sweep given the Miami rotation. Heck, we might get swept.
Now bader injured, this is crazy. I don’t know. With the pitching staff really sucking overall and a much poorer defense on the field, we may be in for rough times. The only thing saving us is we are in a historically bad division. But saying that, we just got beat two out of three by one of those really horrible teams

Of course they could also DFA others and just demote the two new 40man adds, eventually.
McFarland, VerHagen, Dickerson …. Picking two to DFA wouldn’t be hard.
Caple won’t sneak though waivers. Especially with Philly hurting for OF help. Naile has been around awhile and a St. Louis guy. He’s been throwing OK for Memphis in a variety of roles, maybe he takes advantage of the situation, or it’s at least a chance for a 29 year old to make his debut for the team he grew up cheering for and reward him for his hard work before having to clear him back out for someone else. But he can’t be worse than VerHagen or McFarland can he?
The Cardinals have several DFA candidates but Verhagen will probably stick around because he is also under contact for 2023….sigh

Middle relief is killing us- Go Cardinals!Lopez has thrown one meatball-first pitch of the game. Every other strike since has been on the edges of the zone. A lot of strikes May be good to work his counts up. Hes really cruising right now.
