May 4, 2022 at 7:04 am #184327It seems the Redbirds have pulled the plug on T.J. Zeuch starting with Angel Rondon returning to the rotation. Next time a 40-man spot is needed, Zeuch could be on the hot seat.
Wednesday's #stlcards minors starters:
Mem (12:05): RH Angel Rondon (1-0, 2.84)
Spr: RH Kyle Leahy (0-3, 8.66)
Peo (10:05): RH Dionys Rodriguez (0-1, 2.00)

May 5, 2022 at 7:00 am #184403Was an understandable guess, but it didn’t happen. At least not yesterday. Gomez hit his MiLB-best 13th homer last night for Springfield.
Among the downstream effects from the #stlcards calling up Yepez and taking a taxi squad to SF: believe Moisés Gómez will be promoted to Memphis today https://t.co/6JohyhjF4p

stlcard25ParticipantEven though Moises Gomez is tearing it up, Gorman is showing tremendous pop, Winn is blazing his way through the minors, McGreevy and Graceffo are looking like Scherzer and DeGrom…
For my money, 19 year old Jordan Walker and his .438 OBP at Springfield is the most impressive start to the year. He also has 10 steals in 21 games. If he’s not a top 10 prospect, then something is wrong with the raters.
May 6, 2022 at 10:34 am #18451314NyquisT
ParticipantI haven’t seen a prospects rating lately…. has Gomez been included? and where?
May 6, 2022 at 1:27 pm #184519
MrperkinsParticipantI’ve been impressed with Zane Mills. Seems like he consistently puts up 5-7 innings of 1-3 run ball. Looks like in his outing last night 2 of his 3 runs came on a hr in the 7th. He may be kind of goofy looking but I like what I see.
May 6, 2022 at 1:32 pm #184520
MrperkinsParticipantChecking his game logs, has only gone less than 6 innings once this year, his first outing where he went 5 scoreless. Also, has not walked more than 1 in any of his 5 starts.
May 6, 2022 at 2:24 pm #184521Another Moises. I’d like to see these kids go opposite field on these outside pitches. Especially since these guys are expecting fastballs on 2-0 counts. At the major league level this can’t be counted on. This is what got Carlson in trouble when he first got called up. Wonder who the batting coaches are down there???

ParticipantReally looking forward to seeing if Libby can keep it going tonight.
Nootbaar
Robertson
Gorman
Baker
Burleson

Spangenberg
Mendoza
Deluzio
LibbyMay 6, 2022 at 4:48 pm #184528bccran
ParticipantAlso, in case some people haven’t noticed, Burleson has hit 6 home runs in 89 PAs for Memphis. That’s a 40 HR per season pace. All the publicity over Gorman has overshadowed this.
May 6, 2022 at 5:34 pm #184531Memphis has played 18.3% of its schedule, so Burleson is on a 33 HR pace. He is currently third on the team behind Gorman (11) and Yepez (9). As we noted in the Memphis Notebook today, the team has 51 long balls, which is the most in professional baseball. 14 different Redbirds have gone deep already.
May 7, 2022 at 6:01 am #184599
stlcard25ParticipantLooks like Springfield narrowly averted the system from being swept in 5 games last night. Libby and Junior Fernandez in particular got shelled.
May 7, 2022 at 9:13 am #184608The #stlcards system was 1-4 on Friday. The Cardinal Nation’s Player of the Day, 3B Kramer Robertson, went 3-for-4 with 5 RBI in the Redbirds’ Game 2 loss and 4-for-7 for the night. Other standouts include Luken Baker, Tyler Pike and Masyn Winn. (free) https://t.co/5kr9Q5dR7P pic.twitter.com/6sBqVGTKXc
