Also BSSW+ in Oklahoma and Arkansas and BSSO in TN, KY and MSI read yesterday that Flaherty was bullpen bound, which isn’t a surprise. I’d think Hudson would either start or be the long man.
MLB.com lists Happ as the starter for this game.
I heard on mlb radio that the Dodgers are 40-13 since acquiring Trey Turner and as Scherzer. That wild card game will be a tough one to win, and the odds will be stacked against us.
But mlb needs to change the setup and seed post season teams by W-L record. Benefiting by being the best of a weak division or getting penalized by being the second best team in a great division is not a good way to operate. You want to make the long regular season count as much as it can towards the post season, and incentivize winning over “placing”.
If the Cards get by LA in the WC game (Wainwright) the 3 man playoff rotation will then be:
Lester, Mikolas, Wainwright?
Have to burn Wainwright in the WC game….
Happ and Woodford to pen?
I wonder if Flaherty / Hudson get one more look each?
Probably. Perhaps two more 1-inning appearances for Flaherty.

The Dodgers hit four homeruns in the bottom of the 8th last night and beat San Diego 11-9. They are still just two games out.
And for what it’s worth, Scherzer didnt have it last night. Gave up a bunch of hits. I assume he will be the Wild Card pitcher for them if they fail to overtake the Giants. The Giants won 1-0 over Arizona.
Funny thing is, it was a 6-5 Padre lead in the 7th last night so I lit up another cigar – my 4th – to finish off the game. Next thing you know it’s a 9-5 Padre lead so I just put out the cigar and saved it for tonight and hit the hay. I then missed all the 8th inning fireworks.
Din-din today is ham and eggs, chocolate ice cream, and a glass of water.

I have to admit tho…. the next two batters in the 5th didn’t do anything
and the next two batters here in the 7th didn’t do anything. But maybe
having a runner on base… might be an incentive for these batters after Carp.Well… it was a win…. but it was more like sitting on the toilet with constipation the whole game.

Couldnt watch today but saw we got the win. Would love to see full lineup go most of weekend so we don’t lose the fire. I completely understand each regular taking a day off after locking up playoff spot though
