Also BSSW+ in Oklahoma and Arkansas and BSSO in TN, KY and MSSeptember 29, 2021 at 7:43 am #173860I wonder if Flaherty / Hudson get one more look each?

stlcard25ParticipantI read yesterday that Flaherty was bullpen bound, which isn’t a surprise. I’d think Hudson would either start or be the long man.
MLB.com lists Happ as the starter for this game.
September 30, 2021 at 8:30 am #173948I heard on mlb radio that the Dodgers are 40-13 since acquiring Trey Turner and as Scherzer. That wild card game will be a tough one to win, and the odds will be stacked against us.
But mlb needs to change the setup and seed post season teams by W-L record. Benefiting by being the best of a weak division or getting penalized by being the second best team in a great division is not a good way to operate. You want to make the long regular season count as much as it can towards the post season, and incentivize winning over “placing”.
September 30, 2021 at 8:31 am #173949If the Cards get by LA in the WC game (Wainwright) the 3 man playoff rotation will then be:
Lester, Mikolas, Wainwright?
Have to burn Wainwright in the WC game….
Happ and Woodford to pen?

Probably. Perhaps two more 1-inning appearances for Flaherty.
September 30, 2021 at 10:08 am #173956Goldy and Bader off today. Molina and Sosa still out.

September 30, 2021 at 10:40 am #173960The Dodgers hit four homeruns in the bottom of the 8th last night and beat San Diego 11-9. They are still just two games out.
And for what it’s worth, Scherzer didnt have it last night. Gave up a bunch of hits. I assume he will be the Wild Card pitcher for them if they fail to overtake the Giants. The Giants won 1-0 over Arizona.
Funny thing is, it was a 6-5 Padre lead in the 7th last night so I lit up another cigar – my 4th – to finish off the game. Next thing you know it’s a 9-5 Padre lead so I just put out the cigar and saved it for tonight and hit the hay. I then missed all the 8th inning fireworks.
Din-din today is ham and eggs, chocolate ice cream, and a glass of water.

September 30, 2021 at 12:52 pm #173961Adamis is so funny to watch at the plate. I think he has ants in his pants! Better check the dugout!
September 30, 2021 at 1:05 pm #173962Rondon should have had that one.
September 30, 2021 at 1:35 pm #173963Come On Carp…. Your first batter up in the 5th.
No outs…. open left side of the field… we’re down 3-2.
Throw down a gosh darn bunt and put yourself on base!!!!!!
Oh no…. let’s hit a grounder right to first and get our first out.
It’s time for Carp to go!!!!!! PERIOD!!!!
September 30, 2021 at 1:45 pm #173964These guys just don’t got no spark. Looks like the fire has gone out.
September 30, 2021 at 2:21 pm #173965Here we go again….. Bottom 7th.
Carp is the first batter again.
No outs.
Could bunt and get on base… but NO!!!!!!
Has to hit a pop fly to right field…. OUT number ONE!!!!
Bye Bye Carp!!!!!!!
I have to admit tho…. the next two batters in the 5th didn’t do anything
and the next two batters here in the 7th didn’t do anything. But maybe
having a runner on base… might be an incentive for these batters after Carp.September 30, 2021 at 2:36 pm #173966Giving the fans their money’s worth.
September 30, 2021 at 2:47 pm #173968Walk in the ninth is never good.
September 30, 2021 at 2:50 pm #173969Could end it here. Garcia comes in top oth for righty- righty. Whats it gonna beeee?
September 30, 2021 at 2:51 pm #173970Wild pitch by Garcia? C’ mon mannnnn!
September 30, 2021 at 2:57 pm #173971Well… it was a win…. but it was more like sitting on the toilet with constipation the whole game.
Painful!!!!!! hahahaha
September 30, 2021 at 2:58 pm #173972Its a Winner! Boy it sure is less stressful to not have to close with a couple certain guys. Good game for us! Go Cardinals!
September 30, 2021 at 2:59 pm #173973Not the image I would conjure up, but still a win, number 89!
September 30, 2021 at 2:59 pm #173974Cards gave fans their money’s worth with one arm tied behind their back.
September 30, 2021 at 3:43 pm #173976Just saw something. Carlson had 2 diners today. One batting left one right. Power to both sides! Congratulations!
September 30, 2021 at 4:10 pm #173980Couldnt watch today but saw we got the win. Would love to see full lineup go most of weekend so we don’t lose the fire. I completely understand each regular taking a day off after locking up playoff spot though
September 30, 2021 at 5:06 pm #173981Is Hudson eligible for postseason? I’d be thinking he wouldn’t be.
September 30, 2021 at 6:01 pm #173982We’ve now won 18 of 19. This club really came through when they had to. Gives me hope that the can surprised everyone in the wild card game. Pugs has us already going to the LDS and has referenced more about that than the wild card tilt. As the band Chicago said, “We can make it happen!”
