Hope Mikolas is good today. Wonder how good the teams gonna be after last night?

Are we going to continue to run the same basic lineup out there? Or are we now going to give some players some time off? Or will the rest for players be staggered?

I’d like to see them keep things going.

Din-din today is the weekly trip to the Gasthof, the Amish restaurant. I hope they have my usual table by the window available for me. If not, I guess I can find another table by another window.

I mean they were celebrating with Bud Light wooster. Couldn’t be that beatdown plus It’s not like you clinched the division or wrapped up the lds. You would hope they’d get back at it today.

Interesting to see the Mikolas start. My guess is they want to have a show then prove approach with him. If he’s solid early on they’ll let him go on but if he’s shaky then my guess is he’ll be limited pitch count or innings wise. Bullpen hopefully they give Gallegos and Reyes the rest they need.

As far as the line up. It ain’t like the days of old where you had a few guys lounging around. Plus with Sosa a bit dinged my guess is you’ll see a healthy dose of Matty Ice around the diamond the next 5 games. Andrew catching 3 out of 5 and the board darling Noot!!! Playing corner OF a couple games.

From what i watched of the celebration it was mostly spraying each other with booze not drinking too much

I think they can smell 20 in a row and want to see if they can do it

Without the streak going there really is no incentive to plat anyone even with the slightest of injury

But i think the players want to see how far they can take it

Gotta be tough for the coaches and FO right now

Could give Oviedo another look, bring up a few kids to give them a little taste, rest everyone

but i think they know their strength and reason they might have ANY chance in the playoffs is because of this run…and you gotta keep the run going if you want to use it

Still..it would be nice to see anyone on the 40 not up and available to get a chance to contribute to the streak

I think the biggest thing is balancing between giving a rest to players and keeping them in the groove. You don’t want to break the streak the players are on. The win streak can be broken, imo. It would be good for the team.

forschy…. I agree. Top priority is the wild card game. If we lose that one…. everybody goes home.

I am getting anxious to see the lineup tonight. I hope the lineup is such that it does indeed make me and Whitey Herdog want to tune in with a cigar or two.

Unfortunately, this would not be practical. Remember that without an injury, any player optioned out (to make room for the nine guys you’d like to add short-term) cannot be recalled for 10 days except to replace an injured player. In other words, it would weaken the roster heading into the playoffs.

Good Afternoon Mr. Rat…… hey….. what do you know about this place called “The Fish Hut Pizza” place in Petersburg???

We’ve heard a lot of people talking about their Fish Sandwich and wondered about it.

We’re meeting our Kids in Washington around noon on Friday… and thought we’d maybe drop down to Petersburg to try it out… then jump back on 69 and head back home to Evansville.

Do you know anything about the place and have an opinion???

(honestly…. I’d prefer the fried chicken at Gasthof myself… but the wife is a “Health” watcher and cholesterol is not on her menu… but she’ll justify having a Fish Sandwich… go figure. 🙁 )

As much as I’d like to watch the game, I’ve gotta get some sleep, but I’ll be there for tomorrow’s day game. Let’s get number 18 tonight, Rah Cardinals!

Din-din this evening was trout, boiled potatoes in jackets and ratatouille, finishing off with the last of yesterday’s apple cider donuts.

Geez, what a lineup. There goes the winning streak.

    Rondon at 2B? Is he a 2ndbaseman?????

And I did see that the Brewer’s setup guy, Devin Williams, punched something and has a broken bone in his hand somewhere. Probably out for the season.

Don’t forget, it’s actually Mr. Esteemed Rat..:)

And since I-69 has been in place for years now I cannot remember the last time I went through Petersburg. Never heard of that place called the Fish Hut Pizza. Sorry, can’t help you there.

But the vittles were good today at the Gasthof!

I celebrated our win last night with just beer too. Michelob. Shortly after wrapping things up, I did what I haven’t done in decades….took a bath. The Wifey’s bathtub is kind of large. It’s so deep that I won’t let her in by herself if she’s been drinking. Anyway, I was in there last night sloshing around for a good half hour, with the wifey pouring bottles of beer over my head. And this morning when I was combing my hair, I couldn’t believe what I was looking at. My hair hasn’t looked that good since college. I recall my older sister pouring beer of her head in the tub when I was a kid. And then not rinsing it out for about 30 minutes. I thought she was nuts……but now I know why she was doing it. I had this one lady today asking if I had lost weight and then this one attractive lady at Olive Garden gave me a wink. Needless to say I picked up a 12 pack of Michelob on the way home tonight……and it isn’t going in my belly. I’m anxious to see what having beer poured over our players’ heads did for their appearance. A good test of this will be tonight’s pitcher, Mikolas. Check out his mop(hair) the first time he takes his hat off to wipe the sweat off his head. Move over John Travolta.

Thanks Euro for the advice on last nights game thread on getting a photo posted. I may give it a shot tonight, with a picture of the soon to be honored Mike Shannon (#18). I know CMart wears that number, but when I think of it for the Cardinals I think of Shannon.

Crazy lineup. If these guys can keep it going, maybe we can make it to Brock and Flood!

Din din is a lamb shoulder chop and potato leak soup.

It will be kind of fun to see what happens with Carp at 3B and Rondon at 2B. How many times do you see a cleanup hitter batting .173 ?

When I saw that lineup first thing I thought. Carp batting 4th? Really again? Then I saw Bader behind him. Okay so heres the plan. Carp gets his DW- designated walk- and the red hot Laser Bader drives him in! I told you guys Carp is our new secret weapon! We’re gonna catch em by surprise!

Giving some guys rest but let me of odd. Bader has played the whole second half, would think he would get a break

My sincerest apologies Mr. Esteemed Rat. HaHaHa

    Yep… it’s been a long long time since I’ve been up 57.

When I was in high school… mid 70’s…. my grandparents
lived across from North Elementary School in Washington.
Made many a trip from Mt. Vernon up to Washington back in the day.

Glad you got your belly full. Have a good evening and GO CARDS!!!!

Since none of these final five games matter, others will be getting rest ahead, too. This is just day 1.

So I guess Arenado made it official that he is NOT opting out!

Would have minded having goldy down lower in the order. Give him more chance to drive in runs. It’s incredible he’s this close to a 100 batting second most the time.

I know there Brian, it just seems odd not to give the player who has played the most games straight the night off but maybe schildt knows something.

Agree 82. With Goldy on the cusp of 100 RBI, I would have hit Bader at 2, and Goldy at 4. But then I would have had him at 4 most of the year.
