Surely from this point forward Shildt will no longer use Reyes in the closing position.

And if he says “That’s my man, I have confidence in him” I think I will hurl on the spot.

Reyes reminds me of Rosenthal. Rosie went from walking 20 in 75 innings in 2013 to 30 in 47 innings his last year as a Card. Reyes has gone from 23 in 46 inn his first year, to 42 in 57 innings this year. If you can’t master throwing strikes with your secondary pitches, you are not a closer. Past time to make a move in that role. No matter how hard you throw.

    Lester, Mikolas, and Happ.

The Reds must be shaking in their cleats.

Good thing Flaherty and LeBlanc are on the shelf….

He reminds me of Rosenthal also KC . Some guys like Rosie and CMart too can’t pitch unless the barns on fire. And if it isn’t they will make sure it is. Worst part is 3 blown saves in the last 5 games hes been in. Stats about his overall pitching are useless. Problem is how are you going to be today? Schildt says hes gonna talk to him today about his future role

The remnants of Hurricane Ida is headed towards Cincinnati in the next couple of days. It might be difficult to get all three games in.

Both teams are off Thursday so that might be a buffer.

The Doppler Radar shows alot of green stuff currently just west of Cincinnati, moving that way. Plus it appears there is more on the way. Chances are this game might not be played tonight.

    Rats –

This is what makes me hurl. In the St. Louis Post Dispatch this morning, Shildt was asked about Bader’s awful offensive performance this month – 14 for 95 with one run batted in. Shildt responded – “this guy saves us about 3 runs a night”. I just lost all respect for our manager.

I agree bccran. Herzog used to talk about Ozzie that way as well. And rightfully so. Shildt is correct that Bader might save a run or two here and there. But three runs a game???

The Cardinals need to sign an outfielder this off-season. One that can give them some offense and take a little pressure off of Foldschmidt and Avocado.

And the Doppler Radar shows the green stuff might be out of the Cincinnati area around 5:00 eastern time. There does appear to be more in the Indiana area that might head that way. Not sure if there will be a long enough window to get the game in or not.

Tommy Edman has more stolen bases(21) than the entire Reds line-up(20).

I think there is a stat that is supposed to say how many runs saved by defender vs league avg defender.

According to the Doppler Radar it looks like there might be about a two hour window from around 6:00 to about 8:00. Then the rains over in Indiana might start to converge on the Cincinnati area.

Bottom line is that this one will be lucky if it gets completed.

We need a fast worker to get this game in, if Rat’s two hour window is correct. I honestly don’t know if Lester is a quick dealer or not? We need a win and we need one tonight. Root for Tommy E. to rap two doubles tonight so he can sit atop the doubles leader board in both leagues. He has the potential to lead the NL in both doubles and triples one of these years. I wonder if that coveted feat has ever been accomplished? This question may best be put to Skippy and all of the good people over at the esteemed Elias Sports Bureau.

The rain is 106 miles SW of Cincy. If it moves at around 30 mph they should get the game in.

Rdrs/yr is defensive runs saved per year, with a year figured as 1,200 innings. So right now Bader has a 2021 Rdrs/yr of 27. He saves us 27 runs over a season compared to a league average center fielder. The question would be how many runs per season does his bat cost us.

Well schildt does have some brains after all on the statement about bader. Though 3 runs a night is a stretch so hes still a little crazy.
