7:15 p.m.
LHP Kwang Hyun Kim (1-5, 3.60) vs. RHP Wil Crowe (0-4, 4.62)
BSM // KMOX // WIJR
Also BSSW+ in Oklahoma and Arkansas and BSSO in TN, KY and MSJune 25, 2021 at 7:20 am #164749Another pitching match up for the ages…..
I flipped a coin to see who will win and the coin said it didn’t care – couldn’t be bothered.
June 25, 2021 at 8:35 am #164758Well, we lost ground again last night with the 8-2 loss to the Pirates.
The Cubs combined for a no-hitter against the Dodgers and won 4-0. I was hoping LA would win three of four this week and I guess that’s still possible.
And the Reds down the Braves 5-3 at Riverfront.
Milwaukee was idle. The Brewers host the Rockies this weekend at County Stadium.
Redbirds are now six games behind Milwaukee and the Cubs. It’s almost to the point where they have to turn it around and RIGHT NOW. They dont want to try and leapfrog over three teams in August/September.

June 25, 2021 at 11:05 am #164767And by the way, unless I misunderstood what he said Jim Edmonds made one of the stupidest comments I have ever heard last night.
He said something along the lines of .260 is about what good minor leaguers hit. And that it was hard to hit in the minors.
Anybody else catch this? Did I misunderstand him?

ParticipantWell 260 might be an above average for the good hitters nowadays. If they manage their pitching the same way MLB teams do, it’s possible. Your typical averages have went down in MLB so quite possibly they have in minors.
June 25, 2021 at 12:26 pm #164773BRRRR! It’s kinda dank and chilly down here in fourth place. I can feel the slimy hand of a cellar-dwelling Pirate grasping at my ankle, trying to drag me further into the pit. Thank goodness there are still eight games between us and the bottom but…
I look at all these guys on paper and think about what our lineup COULD be doing, then I see what they ARE doing and I’ll be damned if I can figure out why. I guess that’s what Shildt is probably thinking too.
Well, the sad din-din awaiting me in a few minutes is merely cheese ravioli with bolognaise sauce and a green salad, with a splash Bordeaux to help it all along. Wifey is once again discouraging all thoughts of finishing with I scream. We’ll see.
June 25, 2021 at 1:17 pm #164774I’m sorry but Jeff Albert should be punted. Maybe it’s scapegoating a bit, but they need to do something to prove they see it and are trying to change it, not to just the fans but the players too.
Having said that, there was plenty to show he shouldn’t have been here last year let alone this year. Players are consistently getting worse outside of a few instances. The offense has gotten worse ever since he arrived.
It’s his job to see the laws and fix them, he hasnt done that.
HE can’t hit for them or make them change, BUT …Results matter, and coaches know that the performance of others is linked to their success, so when those players fail THEY fail and they pay the consequences.
He should be gone, it might not be fair but it is a long time coming.

ParticipantIt’s hard to see exactly what the problem is. The thing is edman was a big spark plug for us and people fell in love with him but people also forgot he wasn’t that great of a hitter in the minors. It’s also not just him as well. But the bigger point is pitching. We gave up 8 runs to the pirates. We can go out and get the best bat at every position in the MLB and we still would lose the same number of games. It’s just a bad time and now from an article I read today, theres some back and forth between the coaches and players. May be overblown but a big long losing stretch will do that to you.
June 25, 2021 at 2:23 pm #164778The problem isn’t Albert cueing up the wrong stuff in the video room before the game.
What I see are a group of players that are the best a mishandled program can come up with flopping around in a tailspin without any effective clubhouse veteran leadership.
June 25, 2021 at 2:24 pm #164779Rat, we have been discussing batting average on the threading regarding a rebuild. There aren’t many hitters in all of MLB hitting .300 any longer. It is a thing of the past. .275 is the new .300.
June 25, 2021 at 4:09 pm #1647831. Dylan Carlson (S) CF
2. Paul Goldschmidt (R) 1B
3. Nolan Arenado (R) 3B
4. Tyler O’Neill (R) LF
5. Yadier Molina (R) C
6. Tommy Edman (S) 2B

jj-cf-stlParticipantSosa for DeJong, although it’s hard to tell them apart the past couple weeks at the plate.

That’s an easy one my man. Have fun with your granddaughters. If my grandson was over this weekend that’s exactly what I’d be doing, playing outside with him. Way more fun no question about it.
June 25, 2021 at 7:42 pm #164788Edman, Nooty, Sosa due up. I predict an explosion.
June 25, 2021 at 7:48 pm #164789Edman struck out undoubtedly due to not having been properly prepared by the staff. Nooty doesn’t need no stinkin prep and destroys his exit velocity and launch angle metrics with a neat single.
June 25, 2021 at 7:56 pm #164790Well, Carlson pulled it as usual, custom DB ball to the 2nd baseman that would have killed the bases loaded rally, but their SS fumbled it so we got a run. The Nootster scoring.
June 25, 2021 at 7:58 pm #164791The Cards get a run and lead 1-0. However, you would have hoped they could have gotten more. The bases were loaded with one out … Carlson and Goldy coming to bat. The offensive struggles continue.
June 25, 2021 at 7:58 pm #164792Goldy with a can o corn that hung in the air too long. So we had two runners on in the first and sacks jammed in the second, and got one run out of it and only thanks to a mishandled DP turn.
June 25, 2021 at 8:08 pm #164793Trouble here … Pirates tie the game and then load the bases with one out.
And just like that, the Pirates take a 4-1 lead. Would have been great if Lars could have come up with that catch.
June 25, 2021 at 8:16 pm #164795Nolan responds with a bomb! Cards down 4-2.
Yadi trying to make things happen. Doubles and then steals third.
June 25, 2021 at 8:21 pm #164796Need a sac fly from Edman
June 25, 2021 at 8:22 pm #164797Lars comes thru to drive in Yadi. Cards down 4-3.
June 25, 2021 at 8:22 pm #164798nope. up to Nooty with 2 outs. destroys his metrics again with an RBI single.
June 25, 2021 at 8:42 pm #164799Carlson oppo homer ties game at 4.
