12:10 p.m.
RHP John Gant (4-5, 3.50) vs. RHP Matt Manning (0-1, 3.60)
BSM // KMOX
Also BSSW+ in Oklahoma and Arkansas and BSSO in TN, KY and MSJune 23, 2021 at 10:43 am #164606We may as well put Carpenter at 3rd and somebody else at 1st. Neither Arenado or Goldschmidt are doing much. Just hope we didnt get stuck with a couple of duds in these two guys. Goldschmidt had been a disappointment since he came over and Arenado is trending in that direction.
Din-din today is a Hungry Man’s rib dinner with mashed potatoes and assorted vegetables. Then a bowl of homemade ice cream. Then it’s off to mow the yard and after that plant some perennials. I’ll probably miss Detroit pounding on us again this afternoon.

June 23, 2021 at 11:58 am #164610#stlcards have placed Daniel Ponce de Leon on the 10-day IL with right shoulder discomfort and recalled Seth Elledge

June 23, 2021 at 12:58 pm #164620Pretty infuriating to turn it on and hear broadcast team talk about how the Cards “FLAT OUT DEVELOP TALENT” while talking about all the guys on different teams haha
Good start and hope we can start to turn things around though!
June 23, 2021 at 1:07 pm #164621Norman Avocado gets off the schneid with a wanger in the 2nd. Edman an rbi single in the 3rd. But the Tigers have tied the game 2-2 in the bottom of the 3rd and have a runner at 2nd with nobody out.
Back to planting Perennials for me……
June 23, 2021 at 1:13 pm #164622Arenado fell asleep there and I really don’t blame him. Who can blame him?! HahaThis team spends a lot of time in the field. Probably the hardest part about watching
June 23, 2021 at 1:25 pm #164623Salsa salesman goes down with a whimper again.
June 23, 2021 at 1:49 pm #164624Swinging at first or second pitch isn’t working out. May be better to take some longer counts. It may bother this pitcher more than it bothers us.
June 23, 2021 at 1:50 pm #164625Schoop would’ve been a solid guy to take a one year flier on this offseason
June 23, 2021 at 2:11 pm #164626Gant only goes 3 innings. Our rotation is killing us.
June 23, 2021 at 2:14 pm #164627Designated Walker us killing me…
June 23, 2021 at 2:16 pm #164628If I was a pitching coach who was not hired by my current manager and coached a staff that cannot seem to throw strikes with a lead and my team this winter hired an extra, experienced pitching coach with personal history with the manager…
I would not care for today’s game.

June 23, 2021 at 2:23 pm #164629Isn’t this team pathetic to watch right now? Maybe they will eventually snap out of it, who knows. But is there anybody that expected St. Louis to be under .500 at this point of the season???
June 23, 2021 at 2:33 pm #164630Well Rats I just wish we could get one run every inning too
June 23, 2021 at 2:38 pm #164631It’s looking more and more like deJong is heading for the trade block.
June 23, 2021 at 3:00 pm #164632It’s looking more and more like deJong is heading for the trade block.
Who’s going to trade for him? By OPS+ (OPS indexed to a base of 100), he has fallen from 21% above league average in 2017 to 30% below league average now.
June 23, 2021 at 3:02 pm #164633LOL – We’re using our three best relievers in a game we are down by three runs
June 23, 2021 at 3:25 pm #164634Well, that was about as much fun as stubbing your toe in the dark.
June 23, 2021 at 3:34 pm #164635LOL – We’re using our three best relievers in a game we are down by three runs
I was about to post the same thing. It infuriates me when we use those guys in a loss.
June 23, 2021 at 3:37 pm #164637Jeff Jones is on a roll.
If scores hold, at the end of the day, the Nationals will have a better record relative to .500 than the Cardinals, so it’s suddenly not so sure which team would be the one in search of deadline rental pitching.
— Jeff Jones (@jmjones) June 23, 2021
#stlcards are swept by the Tigers and finish the road trip 1-5. The ground they gained in the Marlins series has evaporated and then some behind it. The current trajectory seems untenable and bound to force a correction in some direction or another.

June 23, 2021 at 3:40 pm #164638Not really sure why DeJongs playing and Sosa’s not? Carp at first base? Not exactley a power hitter lately? May be better to let some more AAA guys play?
June 23, 2021 at 4:05 pm #164639Different lineup tomorrow?
“You may see something a little different tomorrow,” Shildt says about the #stlcards lineup, acknowledging that there is sometimes value in “shaking it up just to shake it up.”

June 23, 2021 at 4:37 pm #164640Edman
Carlson
Arenado
Goldschmidt
O’Neill
Molina
Nootbarr
DeJongJune 23, 2021 at 5:42 pm #164644With the exception of Edman, Arenado and Yadi, what we’re looking at here is a bunch of #8 hitters. And that saddens me. Din-din for me tonight was straight out of Rat’s diet book. Fried chicken, macaroni salad, fries, 3 Popeye’s apple cinnamon pies with a couple scoops of Breyers chocolate ice cream atop and a tall glass of Mountain Dew to wash her all down with. I can’t wait until we get Arizona on our own turf…..I smell an actual series win coming our way.
