7:10 p.m.
RHP Jack Flaherty (8-0, 2.53) vs. RHP Lucas Giolito (3-4, 4.35)
BSM // KMOX
Also BSSW+ in Oklahoma and Arkansas and BSSO in TN, KY and MSMay 22, 2021 at 11:20 pm #162088Flaherty and Giolito were high school teammates, along with Max Freid of the Braves. Must have been quite a staff.
May 25, 2021 at 10:07 am #162330We need to win one of the three games against the WhiteSox. This might be our best bet. But with the offense struggling as it is I wouldn’t necessarily count on a win tonight. Hopefully the boys will break out of the doldrums and start hitting.
Me and Whitey Herdog will be on the couch for this one. We will catch the first three innings of the Reds at Washington then switch over.
And din-din today will be a Subway steak and cheese and some cream style corn from the bakery. Along with a glass of water. The main thing about this diet of mine is not to eat too much and eat a little bit less. Plus dont eat late at night. No more eating at 1030 or 1100 at night. Plus very little in the way of Mt Dews, Pepsi, Root Beer, etc, etc.

May 25, 2021 at 11:08 am #162333Should be a good game tonight hopefully ending a Cardinals win. Giolito struggled in the beginning but has since settled down. The under is a good bet tonight. If we can win tonight, Gant should at least give us a chance to take the series but it won’t be easy against Rodon.
Not sure what exactly is going on with the Cardinals hitting of late or how to correct it. Hoping we just figure it out, but if it doesn’t correct itself soon…maybe consider replacing the hitting coach is an option. This isn’t the first year we’ve struggled with the offense. It seems we’ve been on a decline since 2019.
Tonight’s dinner will consist of homemade chicken and rice soup( perfect for this Oregon gloomy weather), some bread. A cocktail before the game and 1 after dinner… topped of with a cup of coffee and 2 scoops of ice cream( peach and caramel toffee.
May 25, 2021 at 11:13 am #162334As a side note……I’ve heard people say that by Memorial Day weekend you should get an idea of how your team is and how people are going to perform this year.
We are just about there…….
May 25, 2021 at 12:14 pm #162338Yeah, that’s a scary thought Rat. What we’ve got in the next coupla days is what we’ve got.
Tonight it’s chicken pot pie, using the leftover bits from Sunday’s roasted chicken, and a huge salad. No dessert on the schedule.
May 25, 2021 at 12:21 pm #162339Flaherty is pitching so we will score double digits.
May 25, 2021 at 1:23 pm #162346Our last 13 games are against the Brewers-7 and Cubs-6. With that, we as do they control their own destiny as far as the postseason goes and division title. I’m thinking 93 wins gets us a division title… 86 gets us a wildcard birth.
May 25, 2021 at 2:31 pm #162352Not sure what exactly is going on with the Cardinals hitting of late or how to correct it.
Part of the problem recently has been a ton of injuries and little quality depth to replace them with. I think the offense will pick up as we get some regulars back.
I am going with breakfast food for din din tonight…..waffles with maple syrup, turkey bacon, and a big glass of cold skim milk.
May 25, 2021 at 2:55 pm #162354The hits just keep coming….

May 25, 2021 at 5:15 pm #162357I’ll be at the game tonight (my first of the year). Hope for a Cardinals win but at least a good game!
This lineup has seemed to do well when TO is hitting well. Even though his K-rate is extreme, I think that shows he is still a hitter that pitchers don’t want to face with men on, as he can hit a ball over the fence at any time with ease (yes, I’m aware he also misses a lot of balls)
Enjoy the game everyone!
May 25, 2021 at 5:46 pm #162358Sweet din-dins on tap tonight for David and Scotty. Unusually mundane place setting assortment from Cardinal In France this evening. Let us hope he’s not following RatsBuddy’s lead in boring din-dins. I’m having grilled hamburgers, extra onion laden potato salad, cantaloupe, 3 Popeye’s apple cinnamon pies and some Hires root beer to wash it all down with. Live a little again Rat.
With GAC in attendance how can we lose! I’m calling this one 6-2 Birds, with Dylan Carlson finally abandoning his warning track power this evening and going the extra few yards in reaching the cheap seats.
May 25, 2021 at 5:59 pm #162360Pugs? I just weighed myself. This can’t be right but who knows. I started at 275 and now one week later I am at 259!
And live a little, you say? Well, I did just buy myself a 6 qt White Mountain ice cream freezer off of EBay. They say the White Mountains are the best! Havent got it yet, but I am going to try it out once it arrives.
About time to tune in to the first three innings of the Reds game in our nation’s capital. Then switch over to the WhiteSox announcers. Me and Whitey Herdog will once again be on the couch with a cigar or two.

ParticipantI don’t know. If guys would stop getting injured, I think we could still be great. But it just may be one of those seasons. We at the least need more bullpen help. Yea it would be nice to have a great bat but without some better arms to go with the few good ones we have, a little more offense isn’t going to help. A really good arm would help us more than a really good bat.
May 25, 2021 at 6:27 pm #162363FYI,
The Weather Channel radar shows some green stuff just west of Chicago. Hope it doesnt impact this game tonight but who knows.r/Esteemed Rat
May 25, 2021 at 6:39 pm #162364I made my self an old pal before tonight’s game. Waiting for the game to start and dinner to be finished cooking. In the meantime I am watching the Indians-Tigers game.
Sorry Pugs, I’m going to have to disagree with you about the final score. I’m taking the Cardinals 4-1 but at least we can agree the Cardinals will win. I’m also predicting Moroff will get his first hit of the season.
May 25, 2021 at 6:45 pm #162365If we get this game in, I’d maybe extend the pitch count for Flare, rest the bullpen assuming he will have a Typical Flare outing. I say this because he would be next scheduled to pitch Sunday against the Dbacks but I’d hold him for the series opener against The Dodgers which would pit him against Bauer.

There may be a delay to start the game but hopefully we get it in.
May 25, 2021 at 7:12 pm #1623671. Tommy Edman (S) RF
2. Dylan Carlson (S) CF
3. Paul Goldschmidt (R) 1B
4. Nolan Arenado (R) 3B
5. Yadier Molina (R) C
6. Matt Carpenter (L) DH
7. Edmundo Sosa (R) SS
8. Lane Thomas (R) LF
9. Max Moroff (S) 2BMay 25, 2021 at 7:28 pm #162370
jj-cf-stlParticipantIn 2019 Whitt Merrifield had 735 PA’s on the season. Tonight’s lineup that includes Carlson, Sosa, Thomas and Moroff; have accumulated 717 career PA’s combined.
May 25, 2021 at 7:40 pm #1623712 errors lead to 2 runs. Edman and Sosa need to atone fore their errors but I’m not holding my breath.
May 25, 2021 at 7:52 pm #162373Didnt think I’d post at game but 4 errors in 1+ is enough. This team is tragic right now. Count the error on the base paths and thats 5 errors
Of course capped by errornado
May 25, 2021 at 7:57 pm #162374When is it going to start raining?
May 25, 2021 at 7:58 pm #162375I don’t think it is
May 25, 2021 at 8:00 pm #162376Don’t know why I came to see this team play. But I’ll just drink more beer
