I typed a post and it once again gave me the error message.
So I am trying to post this to see if it works…….

These guys are afraid of the plate. They all want to skin the black or get batters to chase off the slab rather than PITCH over part of the plate.
Hitting the corners is important. But so is movement, changing speeds, mixing up pitches, working both sides of the plate, varying the level, etc. All of the latter can be done throwing strikes.
Pitching an array of 96 mph baseballs with accuracy is right behind hitting these same baseballs with authority, as two of the most difficult things we humans can do, Rat. Since we’re on the topic, how is that new pitching machine of your’s treating you, Rat. Neighbors started boarding up their windows yet?
Pitching over the plate is hazardous unless you can change up the velocity effectively and still get it over the plate. Hitters can handle high velocity and movement way better than they can handle change in velocity. Few pitchers are masters at that any more. Throw 100 with some sliders mixed in and blow out your arm before you are around long enough to learn the art of pitching. The next guy is waiting his turn. That is pitcher development strategy now days. I enjoy watching Kim and Wainwright. They know how to pitch.

Never got the pitching machine Pugs. However, I’ve been checking into them lately. I couldnt use baseballs or those dimpled balls because I could break something. I’d have to find one that could throw tennis balls, I guess.
Also been searching for the next possible new car. Probably around March/April of next year. Maybe a new Nissan 400Z or Chevy Camaro or Toyota Supra. The problem with the Supra is that there is NO manual transmission option. And who knows when the 400Z will be available in the states.

Free Eduardo Sosa. He still cannot get on the field. At least Carpenter won’t have the chance to go below the super-Mendoza line.
Its pretty clear Shildt doesn’t want to play Sosa. There has to be some backstory. But the bottom line is Mo should make a roster move and bring in somebody else so its not a dead roster spot.
If he’s out of options, get creative until a trade can be arranged. The dead spot on the roster is not helpful at all.
Quite frankly SD does not have a chance in this game. This should be a big game for Carlson. I’m thinking a double and a dong with 3 rbi. I’m calling it 8-3 Birds.
I’m hoping to be riding high in the PBP saddle for the second consecutive evening. Right now I’m meeting some resistance, as the wifey is badgering me to watch some new series named “Cruel Summer” with her. I’d give it about a 50-50 chance.
Good luck with obtaining your new pitching machine, Rat. I would definitely go with the traditional hard balls vs the tennis balls. Your neighbors will learn to live with it….which rekindles an old memory. When I was about 10 we’d play medium pitch hardball games at this small neighborhood park. There was this beautiful dark brown residential fence that was the perfect distance ( not too easy, but not ridiculously difficult either ) for homers. Anyway, for two summers we peppered this home’s roof with home run balls…..and not once did the occupants complain. The fence was too high to adequately see the house and the goings-on, but you could easily hear the loud bangs when one of use really connected, which was between 4-8 times per game. At random times the balls would be flung back onto our field of play. Luckily, none of us were ever plunked. Looking back, I would love knowing who the occupants of that house were. Needless to say they had to have been super nice people.
Yeah, Sosa is not going to play as a Cardinal. If he cannot even get a start after DeJong goes on the DL, then it is clear the Cardinals do not want to use him.
Something must have happened to sour the brass on the kid.
Sounds familiar Pugs. There is a schoolyard behind my back fence. For many years the baseball backstop was right behind the fence and the middle school age team practiced there. I got a steady supply of balls in the yard. Don’t remember the house ever getting hit but a basement window got broke a couple times. Found a ball in the basement once. I collected up balls before mowing and tossed them over.
Thanks for the stories. Pugs I think Lumpy lived there. Addle-brained but nice. Too many shots off the roof.
