Cubs have company in second place. Last week I thought the Brewers were fading out of the division race and winning 6 in a row puts them tied for second. I’d like to maintain a 4 game lead until Sept 29th.
Mikolas has been good lately. Problem is so has the other guy. Lets have a breakout game today! Go Cardinals!
I wouldn’t worry too much about the Brewers. They have beaten up on Miami High School this week but with Yelich gone the Crew aren’t making the playoffs.
Our focus still better be on the Cubs. While they have stumped their toe the last two nights they are about to embark on a 10 game homestand after today. 3 against the Pirates, 3 with the Reds, and 4 with the Cards. They then finish with 3 at the Pirates and 3 at Busch. The schedule is definitely in favor of the Cubs.
The Cubs are undoubtedly the ones to watch, that has to be their dream schedule. Going 10-3 or better over their next 13 is not out of the question with the Reds and Pirates so far out of it and making tee times already. The Cards have the other end of the spectrum with the Brewers, Nats and Dbacks who are all either fighting for spots or fighting to keep it.
I keep hoping the D’backs fade and those three games the last week of the season will be somewhat meaningless games for them.
You know what I noticed last night? When I watch the hitters they seem to have the same approach/swing regardless of the situation. Ozuna, Bader, Tommy, Carp and Goldy: swinging from the heels with runners on 2nd and 3rd with no outs. Is there a fine for shortening up?
I also notice that JMart can’t hit spit like before, BA of .260. If he can’t hit why is he still on the team?
4-2 Cards in the 3rd. Fowler, Wong, and Ravioli all have homered.
Goldsh~t a day off. Guess that means he will be back.
Mets about to hand Arizona their 5th straight loss. Mets up 11-1 late.
Looks like Arizona is about to fade. But they do have the Reds for three this weekend in Arizona. Hopefully the three game series in Arizona coming up will be meaningless games for the D’backs.
Ozuna has now homered. 5-2 Cards last of the 3rd.

Zut! I didn’t realize it was a day game today and I missed the first six innings. Hope they generate a few more homers for us latecomers.
