I do not think they are going to flip the script. The plan of the organization all along has been to use the farm system to feed the majors, not vice-versa. It has generally worked well for the last decade, but everything goes in cycles.
We should also remember they added another 30-35 players at the DSL level this year – undoubtedly to try to gain more lottery tickets for the future.
At the MLB level, they should remain wild card-competitive, which will keep ticket sales and ratings going. A major sell-off in-season seems a remote possibility – other than maybe dumping a bad fit like Leake last year.
I do think that if the playoffs are missed, there should be much more change in the roster than in recent years during the next off-season.
