Fantastic content Steffen and Brian. I really enjoy player interviews like this and would love to have more of them from TCN. They really help you get to know these guys more behind just the box score and scouting reports. Like Tanner said the mental side is very important and it is interesting to learn more about the way players think.

I also really like some of the small details that come out that help me learn more about the game and how I evaluate players.

Because there are sometimes I get in game and I’m like, oh, I see something that this hitter can’t hit. But that’s not why I’m here. I’ve got to stick to my process, because this process is going to get me to where I want to be.
Not success in the moment.

I know this as a more avid fan, but it helps to really put it in perspective what players are doing in the minors. Stat lines are what really matter at the end of the day. Instead the players need to focus on improving and sometimes improving means sticking with something when it isn’t working which may lead to bad results.

One thing I’m really looking at is, what is their 0-0 swing percentage?
And what is their 0-2 or behind in the count swing percentage?

Really minor and also somewhat common sense, but interesting to hear the focus on this and using it to form a game plan on hitters. You would think some guys like Chase Davis would know their own pitchers are doing this and then realize they know they can groove a pitch since he won’t swing. Guys like him should use that info from the pitchers strategy on their own team to know what other teams see in them.
