I agree with gscottar here…the Cards will spend overall however they choose to spend, and I’m pretty sure there’s an overall budget rather than for pitching vs lineup.
One thing I would be pretty sure about, though, is that the front office will use the CBT and actual payroll numbers in whatever way they want to make it look like they’re trying, even if they’re not. Without a clear number 2 for next year or a couple of #3s, the rotation looks to be in trouble.
