I wonder where all those hitters are? I think the offense did pretty good last year, but not 4th or 5th good. My guess is we did better some years ago, but I don’t know.
I had just been over at baseballsavant looking at statcast leader boards for 2023. Its pretty bleak. Goldy and Contreras show up mostly, but as to anyone the Cardinals had anything to do with, I think Gorman is the only one I saw. I didn’t go down past 50 or so though. I got sick of seeing Judge at the top of everything and quit.
I think it makes sense that the advanced statistical analysis would have the Cardinals looking good. Mo and the gang are dealing from that deck too. Looking at the same stuff the same way, convinced that it is what matters.
I’m at a loss as to how they managed to bungle the pitching pipeline. That was always reliable. I know they have drafted some hitters lately, but they also drafted pitchers, and I don’t see that as explaining what we are seeing. Its not like we never drafted hitters before. Its a good excuse though, if that’s what you are looking for.
