I received an email question for a member that I thought was good enough to share, as others may have had the same question.
He asked:
I noted on March 27 there was an article about movers and shakers throughout the organization. However several up and coming movers did not actually move within the minors as indicated in the article.
Just for my own understanding, are these articles your best estimate based on watching players or are these type of articles based on information coming from the Cardinals organization?
My reply:
The primary source of the movers and shakers was the Cardinals working rosters they use during camp. I tried to explain that they are written in pencil and can change by the day. But even so, it indicates a positional hierarchy AT THAT TIME. However, a short term injury for example can cause someone to move up on paper who may not really be ready.
On the other hand,, a Jordan Walker playing with the Triple-A team (before St. Louis made major cuts) was a good sign that he could jump to Springfield to open the season, which he did.
