If they can get the shortstop they like the best on the cheap, I think they’ll sign him. The only reason I suggest that they could get a shortstop on the cheap is because there are so many highly rated shortstops available this offseason… Seager, Story, Correa, Baez, Semien. Also, because of all the empty seats at major league ballparks, I don’t think teams are going to be in the mood for throwing money around. This has got to be a first.
Based on his team-friendly contract, and the success he had prior to 2020, I think DeJong would be very good trade bait for a pitcher.
With the way Yepez has come on this year, trading him would be risky business.
