Palm Beach provided the bright spot in St. Louis’ minors 1-5 Tuesday. The big bats of Nick Dunn and Nolan Gorman led the way with three hits and three RBI each.

Memphis (38-58) fell at Round Rock, 4-1, evening the series at one game each with two yet to play.
All four of the Express’ tallies came against Jake Woodford (L, 5-6), who surrendered six hits and four walks in six innings, including two bombs accounting for three runs. The righty hit two batters. Chris Ellis and Chris Beck each tossed a scoreless frame.
The Redbirds mustered seven hits but placed only three players in scoring position and went hitless in all three opportunities. Johan Mieses went 3-for-4 and Lane Thomas singled twice in four at bats. The team’s sole score came via John Nogowski’s solo blast in the ninth.
Wednesday’s game: at Round Rock (56-40) (HOU), 7:05 pm CT, Mike Hauschild (0-2, 8.22)

Springfield (12-13) opened a three-game road series at Amarillo with a 10-4 loss.
Three of six runs, five earned, given up by Jorge Rondon (L, 4-2) were generated by two home runs comprising two of the nine hits and one base-on-balls allowed in six innings. The right-hander fanned eight.
Will Latcham surrendered a long ball of his own, a seventh-inning grand slam which put the game out of reach. Roel Ramirez recorded the final four outs, yielding two hits.
The S-Cards’ eight hits were distributed among seven players. Zach Kirtley singled and doubled in four at bats, crossing home once. Lars Nootbaar tripled for the first time since joining Springfield, his only hit in four at bats to go with a run scored and RBI.
Wednesday’s game: at Amarillo (14-11) (SD), 7:05 pm CT, Johan Oviedo (2-4, 6.03)

Big offensive nights by Nolan Gorman and Nick Dunn led Palm Beach (9-18) to an 11-7 victory over Florida in the home series opener.
Both players took part in five tallies while garnering three hits apiece. Co-Players of the Day Gorman and Dunn both doubled twice with two runs scored and three driven in, Gorman in five at bats and Dunn in four at bats with a base-on-balls.

The final Beach Bird with a multi-hit performance was Imeldo Diaz, who singled twice in three at bats, worked a free pass and touched home three times. Three players had one hit each. Defensively, third baseman Gorman and shortstop Diaz accounted for two of their team’s four miscues, along with catcher Julio Rodriguez and right fielder Juan Yepez.
Those bobbles resulted in three unearned runs, all absorbed by starter Alvaro Seijas. Seijas allowed four runs, one earned, on nine hits and two walks with six strikeouts in five frames. The righty plunked one.
Zack Thompson also hit a batter during his inning on the bump, yielding a tally on one hit plus a strategic stolen base against him. Ben Yokley (W, 1-3) was charged with two runs on four hits and three walks in two frames but was the pitcher of record when his teammates exploded for a six-run eighth, giving then their first and final lead. Patrick Dayton tossed a clean ninth.
Wednesday’s game: vs. Florida (8-19) (ATL), 6:30 pm ET, Perry DellaValle (5-4, 3.00)
Peoria (4-20) heads out on a nine-game road trip with Eastern Division rivals Fort Wayne and Lake County (CLE) before facing Quad Cities (HOU) in a Western Division match up.
Wednesday’s game: at Fort Wayne (7-17) (SD), 6:05 pm CT, Kyle Leahy (4-7, 2.91)
The Spikes (16-14), who have gone 3-7 in their last 10 games, look for a return to their winning ways during a three-game road series at division rival West Virginia.

Johnson City 5 at Elizabethton 7

A five-run third dug a hole from which the Appy Birds could not recover, resulting in a 7-5 road loss at Elizabethton (16-11) (MIN). Johnson City (14-12) won one of the four-game set.
Jake Sommers (L, 1-1) struck out six in four innings but was tagged for six runs, four earned, on seven hits, a base-on-balls and a hit batsman. John Witkowski held the Twins scoreless on two hits and a walk over two frames. Wilberto Rivera also pitched two innings but yielded a run on four hits.
The Appy Birds managed five runs but needed the aid of three Elizabethton miscues, as only two of the five were earned. Zach Jackson was the only Cardinal with more than one of the team’s six hits, singling twice in four at bats with two runs scored and an RBI. Victor Garcia went yard for the first time this season, a solo shot that was his only hit in four at bats.
Wednesday’s game: vs. Bristol (12-15) (PIT), 6:30 pm ET, Jose Moreno (1-3, 10.98)
After a five-game winning streak, the Gulf Cardinals (7-12) have lost three straight contests.

DSL Cardinals Blue 3 at DSL Angels 8
The Cardinals Blue (21-12) never led, falling to the Angels, 8-3.
The offense managed just five hits, two by second baseman and lead-off batter Elvin De Jesus. Shortstop Darlyn Del Villar was productive both times he reached base, singling once in two at bats with a base-on-balls, stolen base and two runs scored.
Making his first start in eight days due to the Dominican Summer League All-Star Game, Reinys Portillo (L, 2-3) allowed five runs on seven hits and a walk in four innings. Victor Villanueva and William Miranda each tossed two frames, with Villanueva permitting two scores on five hits and a plunked batter while Miranda yielded a run on two hits and a base-on-balls.
Wednesday’s game: at DSL Yankees (16-17), 10:30 am ET, Gustavo J Rodriguez (3-0, 1.45)
DSL Cubs2 5 at DSL Cardinals Red 3
The Cardinals Red (14-23) dropped a 5-3 decision to the Cubs2 (24-14), the sixth loss in their last eight games.
Hancel Rincon (L, 1-3) allowed a run in his first and last inning of work, yielding four hits and two walks through four. Luis Garcia and Larimel Soriano both pitched two frames, with Garcia giving up a run on five hits and two walks and Soriano permitting two unearned tallies on two free passes and a hit batsman. Miguel Maiz tossed a scoreless ninth.
The C-Red generated 10 hits with three players having two hits apiece: All-Star Diowill Burgos, Sander Mora and Albert Inoa. Burgos reached base three times, singling and doubling in four at bats with a walk while both Mora and Inoa went 2-for-5 with an RBI, with Inoa doubling once. On the base paths, both Burgos and Mora swiped a bag.
