St. Louis Cardinals announcement
On Wednesday afternoon, June 19, the St. Louis Cardinals announced via Twitter the signing of three 2019 MLB Draft picks:
- RHP Andre Pallante, UC-Irvine (Round 4)
- RHP Jack Ralston, UCLA (Round 7)
- RHP Connor Lunn, Southern California (Round 11)
Brian Walton’s take
Signing bonuses have not been disclosed as of yet for the trio of West Coast collegiate right-handers. None of their schools reached Omaha, with UCLA eliminated in the Los Angeles Super Regional. Irvine and Southern Cal did not make this year’s field of 64.
Pallante and Lunn are juniors, while Ralston, a senior, should sign for considerably less than his $204,800 slot value. In addition to that excess is more than $163,000 remaining that can be used on hard-to-sign players selected after the 10th round requiring more than $125,000 to sign.
Including these three, deals with the Cardinals’ first 12 draft selections are done and with 31 of 40 picks in total.
Initial team assignments for the three will also be shared when learned.
