“There’s a pretty good chance he ends up in High-A in the near future,” Cardinals president of baseball operations John Mozeliak said. “Then he’s a step away from Double-A and a step away from the big leagues. The timeline is TBD, but he’s certainly been on the fast track.”
The starters for Memphis are fattening up their averages tonight against Nashville.
Diego Cordero pitched another 6.2 shutout innings tonight for Peoria. He hasn’t been scored upon since April 7. (31.1 IP)
Cordero and Parsons are standout pitchers for Peoria, so far.
Memphis scored 17 runs on 24 hits tonight. Impressive. Gorman is now 0 for his last 12 with 7 strikeouts to drop his average to .287. He’s hitting .194 over his last 10 games. Perhaps the league is figuring him out and he’ll have to adjust.

JeCruz has been flying under the radar for some time now but he deserves some mentioning as he has been a force in the MEM bullpen. During our last fan poll here it was C-27 that picked up on him at #38. Cruz finally was listed at #77…. maybe an oversight on our part. Our April 13th TCN poll placed him at #38 both good reads.
The 24 year old 6’1″ 225 stocky has hit every level in our system, skipping only Johnson City along the way. He has been improving at every promotion. Since hitting AAA on April 12th he has appeared in eight games pitching 8.2 inn 3-H 0-R 2-BB 16-K 0.58-WHIP and 0.58 OBA.
He could be a factor in the Card’s pen this season if his consistency holds up. He may be able to leap over some of the others vying for the big team’s roster spots.
You would think that Woodford should have been in line for the W in that Redbird rout last night. It was most likely his pitch count that was decisive in him only going 4.2inn. He was at 100 pitches when he left the game only 57 for strikes. He was also ahead 14-1.
I noticed that Triunfel(SPFD) got his fifth double of the season. The other two of his seven hits he has had have been singles. One big problem is his .171 BA and the other is 0 RBIs.
Cordero is still impressing at Peoria. In his last four starts his Game Scores have averaged 69.75. That is some kind of effectiveness.
